Help and Troubleshooting / Re: Rotating Beacon in P3D V4
« on: August 17, 2019, 08:24:06 PM »
Rod ... that was the tip off!!! I did it with an XML file I had found. No wonder I couldn't "move it around" or try to mess with it!  Here's the XML for a rotating beacon:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<FSData version="9.0" xmlns:xsi='' xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd">
<SceneryObject lat="47 25.89" lon="-122 18.43" alt="0" pitch="0" bank="0" heading="0" altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" imageComplexity="NORMAL">
      <LibraryObject name="7f38bfbc4a40e2953c3f5c8482fa2c87" scale="1.0" />
      <Beacon type="CIVILIAN" baseType="AIRPORT"/>

I had forgotten that's how I did it!  So there's that part of my self-created mystery solved. Now, why do you suppose only the green ground reflection shows in V4? I'm thinking the problem is something P3D is missing.  This is no barn-burning problem, it just makes me curious. I think Norm is seeing it OK (green and white) ... we have the same setup with V4.

That’s the problem, when I try to get it’s properties model button) it causes CTD. It is called rotating beacon and is with some other beacons. Can’t get past CTD to get more info.

Interesting Problem .. in V3, with IS3, I can Move the object, but when I try to place it, I get a CTD. Something funny with the object I think. (I have re-downloaded all the libraries in a clean install, re-installed the client MSI for V4.4. Nothing seems to help. I think it is a 64-bit fx and IS3 is 32. Who knows?

In V4 (not V3 or FSX), there is a ground reflection for the green/white rotating beacon lights. In my setup, only the green one is seen, but the white reflection doesn't happen. I'm using the identical library of others with V4 that are seeing the ground reflection. Let me know if you have an idea for correction. You can see and MP4 of the problem HERE.

Javier ... welcome to RTMM!!!  Glad to have you drop by. Your scenery packages are important to many of us. Right now, with the converted models Steve has given us, I'm having no CTD's at all. I hope this also solves a problem for you.  Thank you for dropping by.

Thanks, Jeff ... moved the thread (first time I've tried that).

The Here2There page and table have NOT been 2019 REFRESHED yet. No sense in getting that one all done when the links are changing so quickly as we work on the various web pages. That will be one of the next areas of work since we have most of the linkage changed.

For now, to get to any of the major features of the site ... go to the HOME PAGE, scroll down to the FEATURES area and click on BWEP there. Or use the right column of the home page to find BWEP and click there. Or use the SCENERY PAGE under BWEP and click on that scenery location link.  I've fixed the link on the Here2There page ... but I'm sure there are MORE on that page that are in question.

Garry is helping clean up the verbiage on the whole web site ... in readme's, in the scenery tables on the scenery page, etc. I'm putting in his corrections and the result "behind us, in our wake" is pretty darned good. Just changing all of that is a lot of work, but WORTH the effort. And we are keeping up the version.txt on adjusted locations and the individual location's maintenance page.

Sorry about the bad link...

I've downloaded it from the "Features" are of the home page (below the top table), from the right-hand column, and from the BWEP Airports on the Scenery Page.  I need to know if anybody else is having ap problem with this ... did you click on the link I just gave you in the previous post and that gave you the 404 too?

Great shots, Scott.  Didn't Tomse do a great job on the Healy River airport? That is one I hope a lot of people discover.

Addon Scenery and Enhancements / Snow Dog Tours #2 "B" updated

SDT Problem at Nome - There is a difference between P3D V3 and V4 autogen. STD-2B looked perfect in V3 ... (with IS3, it was built in V3). However, V4 puts in different autogen buildings and in different positions ... the SDT objects where being overwritten by the V4 autogen. To solve this, I moved all of the Alaska Airlines and Snow Dog Tours objects to an area where no autogen for either V3 or V4 comes up.  So this problem is solved. To get it, you need to redownload Snow Dog Tours and put in the new SDT-2 "b" group. If you are using "a" there is no difference.  Here's the new layout for Nome.

PS ... to know if any update is for YOU, click on the refreshed date for the location. The Location Maintenance Table comes up. In this case, it tells you a change was made in SDT-2B ... so if you are using 2A, you do not need to redownload. Let the maintenance table tell you what's happening. Any change like this is also on the Site Maintenance Page.  You can always peruse the Site Maintenance Table to see any and all changes being made on the site. This is a handy way to keep up to date.

Also, anything you see in RED means if you want the change, then you must re-download the file.

Just fixed it, Rod. One ”problem” with the system I'm using... If you click on the refreshed Date, you’ll get the maintenance log and you will see the folder was updated today. But, how would you know? The refreshed data wasn't changed to today 08.10.2019. I only change the refreshed date if the scenery package is updated, indicating someone needs to download the latest. But if I fix something that wouldn't need a redownload, like fixing a readme or a bad zip, I don't change the date. I think this problem is an exception rather than the rule. But wanted people to know.
