General Discussion / Re: NOT Banned by Alaska Adventures
« on: March 25, 2016, 12:27:55 PM »
Nobody has ever been banned at AKA.

Please been informed that the service provider who hosts the AKA website has crashed at 0800 EST on
March23 and hasn't yet been recovered. We have been advised that many of our databases within the service provider server have been damaged and will have to be rebuilt.

No-one can excess the site until the host server is back up and running and our databases on their servers have been rebuilt. This am, we were advised by the site owner that the host server is again operational but our databases reinstall will take a few days - then hopefully the site should be back up and running.

(Currently everyone is receiving this error:)

Fatal error: Uncaught
Last Error -- [Access denied for user 'flyaka_selTest'@'localhost' (using password: YES) (1045)]
[]

thrown in /home/flyaka/public_html/core/classes/ezdb/ezdb_mysql.class.php on line 103

Hopefully the site will be up in the next few days.

Addon Scenery and Enhancements / Re: Snow Dogs Tour One download

Too Funny John..... How much VA money would you like?.. Maybe enough to buy a virtual trip to hmmm.. let's say Grenada or perhaps Doug's Hawaii for you and the wife and/or significant other? And getting er done in the VA world would get you a nice ribbon award that you could sew on your trunks?

Sorry you guys had a few issues.... Any one can fly what they want to fly... yup we recommend a plane but you are not limited in any way at all. Just don't use a C-130 for a leg that needs a seaplane.

I'm on this forum every day of two.. and on our forum too so if you guys have any problems just post or email direct (I don't know about the DLL problem from the email on the site but will check it out)..

There are lots of various tours as well as a multude of flight legs and we'll have a tour switch over in the next couple of weeks to move to spring tours.. as the water opens up for seaplane and/or amphbians. Some of us are also using FSCloud now to hook up together in the Sims flying flights together.. a new experience.
Again all the VA stuff is new to some and does take some getting familiar but nice to capture the flight legs and clock flights and hours..

As for aircraft taking VA $$ to buy... I am in a big conversion to make everything available from direct link just as on the RTMM site.. much better and VA money is just that.. virtual.. and it is much easier to driect link everything like our tour info downloads etc...

Any problems or issues if you are on the site just email me (norm_richards@hotmail.com) or post here or there...

The VA part is not hard at all after you do it once.. The Blubox acars is quick and easy.. after the sim is up and the flight is loaded up, start up that bluebox, load the flight# hit the button to get the flight leg info.. and start.. fly away... When you have made it to the destination, just hit stop flight in the bluebox and then send flight report... and that flight is done...

Well Doug, you're doing good on twitch and that XPOI is a nice tool along with your gauge package that runs on the bottom right side... Just finishing watching your the latest vids.. (I missed you live)... but nice job Sir on the legs.

The tour download, which contains the scenery, is contained on the "Downloads" page but it is hidden until log-in. (Free pilot member then free access).

After log-in, the tour downloads are all accessible from the main page under downloads. The downloads for each tour contain a tour document, map/route, flight plans (.pln) and skyvector links for each leg, and additionally, for this tour, the it also contains the add-on scenery piece.

The Anchorage, Denali and the Arctic SDT VA Adventure - At Alaska Adventures - http://www.flyaka.com/

Anchorage, Denali and the Arctic Adventure is a new tour that features custom RTMM addon scenery that showcases not only Snow Dogs Tours (SDT) of Alaska but Return to Misty Moorings and Alaska Adventures with custom locations to visit along the way. This tour is active March 1st, 2016.

The RTMM add-on scenery for this tour is contained within the tour download on the Alaska Adventures site.
At each location, you will find that there are new RTMM and SDT/Alaska Adventures hangars present at most of the airports covered by this VA tour. (Thanks to Brad Allen for the story line, the add-on scenery and the design of this tour).

The recommended aircraft for this adventure is the Maule M-7 260C "Orion". It's great for short fields, cruises fast, a good climb rate, maneuverability and the aircraft visibility is good.

We hope you enjoy the Anchorage, Denali and the Arctic VA Adventure.

Thanks again Brad for all your help in the design of this tour and for the special addon scenery.

As you guys have found the Ground Decal = 1 is the big part of the fix.

Yup, all ships wake issues but found a fix... but using
Ground Decal=1 in the fx_wakexxx.fx files... in the effects folders..

Ground Decal If this is set to 1 (in the wake effect) the particle will decal on to the ground surface. (Instead of into the air!) This is for such effects as wake, rotor wash, burn marks, and similar ground effects. Ground Decal=1.

Now to apply the wake fixes.. (called - FlyTampa Corfu Ship Wake and wave adjustment for P3D V3.1) but seems to work in any version of prepard3d.

Link to avsim forum post on it..(that found just the other day)

http://www.avsim.com/topic/481165-flytampa-corfu-ship-wake-and-wave-adjustment-for-p3d-v31/

About half way down in that forum post, a gent (Nuno Pinto) wrote a small exe command program to do it all.. 1. Figures out which effects files require the fix.. and 2. to apply the fix.

Just need to know some old dos commands like how to get to command prompt, change drive letter and subdirectories and two commands a) to scan the effects folder to determine the files that need the fix and b) to apply the fix to those files..

The changefx.exe file has to be in the folder with the effects..

Direct link to the tiny program: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w2weoelil6pcas2/ChangeFX.exe?dl=0

Command - changefx scan - finds all the wake fx that need to be changed.. and changefx apply, fixes those files.

Review the post on avsim first, backup your effects and if you want to fix the effects run the change fx.. and finally, say goodbye to vertical wakes.

To all the folks at RTMM.. Have a great Christmas, a very safe and enjoyable holiday and a Happy New Year.

A special thank-you to Brad and Doug for all your help and support to me in creating the RTMM tours. A great addition to the flight sim community. It is a joy to fly in the ruggedness of Alaska and surrounding areas with the RTMM scenery add-ons.

Expect many new adventures in 2016 and we hope you will enjoy flying many of these routes.

All the best.
