They keep leaving the door open on these things....

Made my 50th jump today, earned my B-License.  Good times!   We're jumping out of a Caravan these days.

Photobucket no longer allows third party web hosting for users unless you agree to pay $399.00 for their new annual subscription that will then allow that function again. "F" that!!!

Brad... I host your signature image right here on the site, we always have.  Not sure why you're trying to host it off-site.

I PM'd you instructions how to properly set your signature..

General Discussion / RTMM Voice Comm Server
« on: June 02, 2017, 07:36:53 PM »
Hello all.   I've had a Teamspeak server for a while now that's no longer really being used, so I thought I'd repurpose it for RTMM.

The renewal on it is on a couple of days, so I figured I'd float this out there and see if there's any interest in using it  (for multiplayer flights, troubleshooting, or just chatting).

First you'll need Teamspeak, which you can download here.

You can add a bookmark in Teamspeak from the menu bar, and enter your information like this:

Just thought I'd let you all know.  If you run into anyone abusing it, just send me a PM and I'll sort it out.  I'm not expecting it to get any major usage unless you all coordinate events or something.   ;D

Misty's Place / Cessna Caravan (New Jump Plane)
« on: May 26, 2017, 06:22:18 PM »
Went skydiving again today (no video of that, just did a Hop & Pop since I'm recovering from a shoulder injury) and I got some video of our new jump plane today, a Cessna Caravan.   Always fun to watch these pilots in action, they're pretty damn skilled.    I miss the Twin Otter that we had out there, but this plane is definitely fun to fly in.    Hmm.. Just realized, I've taken off in Caravans and Otters, but I've never landed in one...  :o

Yeah, about 120mph in the neutral position (which is what that previous video was, notice the arms at a 90 degree angle).   I didn't do mantis position until yesterday.  Yeah, you dip your elbow to turn (one of the ways at least, there are lots of ways to do it).

This is mantis form (with added thumbs-up  ;D ) from yesterday.  Note the hands are held more in front of the face, and elbows are in front of the shoulders.  Far from perfect form demonstrated below, but I'm still learning it. :)  You can turn super-fast in this position, it's a lot of fun and I feel like I have tons more control in it.

Here is my A-License checkout jump (basically my final "test" in the air).  Nothing too fancy, just basically a control-ability test.  7 more jumps and I'll be licensed!

- Diving exit
- 360 degree turns left/right
- Recover from instability
- Dock with instructor
- Track to deployment

Passed my "A" checkout dive, I was able to pick my own dive flow this jump, so I went for a fun exit, and then delta tracking...  I did my first gainer exit (pretty much using relative wind speed to backflip once out the door). The most fun I've had exiting so far. The rest of the jump was pretty sloppy due to me being so excited about actually successfully doing the gainer on my first try since it was more of a long-term goal of mine, but in the end I got a nice smooth tracking run to my deployment.

The video is taken from my instructor's perspective, then briefly switches to the other instructor in the plane, and then comes back to my freefall.

Haha, FSRobert!   There's no such thing as a perfectly good airplane..  PLUS, the door was open.   ;D

You should head out to Skydive Spaceland Atlanta and get a tandem jump in while you're out here.  It's life-changing :)

Thanks for the nice words, it's fun to share my journey in this crazy sport with you all.

Oh yeah, I camped out at the dropzone this weekend, here's my little yellow tent set up near the airstrip.   ;D
