BWEP Updates -

These should be re-downloaded as changes have been made:

The Interior - pipe misalignment has been fixed... Cursed Hills airport was taken out of this pipeline segment and put into the BWEP airports (so they are now all together)
Dalton Highway - pipe misalignment has been fixed
Gates of the Arctic - pip misalignment has been fixed
BWEP Airports - season switcher has been added, approach lighting is now available on all airports for bad weather ... Cursed Hills is now part of the BWEP airport package, it was formerly in "The Interior" pipeline segment. Readme First texts were updated to reflect changes.

BWEP Changes and Additions

1. BWEP Airports has been split on the server so each (Package A and B) has its own maintenance folder. Also, these new downloads have the latest changes that have been made.

2. BWEP Southern Alaska Package A and B - These were also split on the server, now each with its own maintenance log. There have been changes in the packages, so be sure you have the latest version.

3. BWEP Dalton Highway - has some modifications in it near Prospect Creek, this is a new folder.

4. Gates of the Arctic - NEW ADDITION!!!  You can now download Brad's new Gates of the Arctic pipeline segment. This is an amazingly complex segment going over some rough terrain. Airports along the route (as with all segments) have been updated and even created. (Those are all in the new BWEP Airports Packages (A or B).  When you fly this section, you really begin to FEEL the magnitude of the Alaska Pipeline. Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, Years ... extreme terrain and extreme weather conditions ... you begin to wonder how men could even begin to create and finish such a huge project.  (It also says something for the creator of this ... Brad Allen ... who meticulously placed EACH pipeline segment ... perfectly aligned, for miles and miles). In real life, it is difficult to grasp the size of the project, but even in the virtual life of BWEP, you will have the same awe for the completion of such a segment.  Great Job, Brad!

We are hijacking the thread here, but could an AI routine be ”triggered” by proximity as sounds can be? I'm thinking medical dispatches and arriving vehicles when you get to the dock...hmmm?

Different platform but same ferries, same drunk drivers, same problems. :-)

The ferry drivers up there are a little reckless. These are AI ferries put in by ORBX...nothing we can control. Dex is correct, that's the best way to get rid if them. I fly by them and just think they need more training and fly-on. :-)

That is the last (linkage) page we have yet to refresh for the 2019 Refresh of the site. First we had to make sure all of the linkages were working correctly on the scenery page ... almost done there. Many links changed as we refreshed things (combining scenery locations, etc). Now we will start at the top of the GoTo Table and be checking all of those links.

Thank you

UPDATE: The table at the bottom has now been refreshed so all of th links should be ok. (11.06.2019)

Another review with a little more information, especially about addons.

The NDA was interesting, if they think what happens on an open forum will be a secret, with everybody posting elsewhere under different names, they are crazy...and “they” are Microsoft...and are not crazy. I wonder if that is more a marketing tease than a legal notice. We will be careful here that there are no copy/pastes from their insider forum, but ideas most likely will show up here ... especially if it has to do with something that affects RTMM.

The videos all make it look very impressive. I've signed up for the "insider" hopefully to keep track of what is coming, but I'm too impressed so far, no forum yet, they give you a made-up "name" ... I hope they clean this up so we can use it.

I haven't seen one pontoon in any of the videos and I think I've watched all of them. I wonder if they'll have any bush planes (tundra, etc). Well, it's a long way off.  If you see things that might impact us, be sure to post it in this thread.

Interesting, I’ll take a look at it. Thank you.

Think of the “hardened surface” of an object like a invisible coating of paint. The designer makes an object, and hardens it with the “hardened surface coating”. Then a scenery designer decides to use that object at a location. But the object (in this case a wharf) must be resized (made smaller), to resemble a concrete pier. The pier that you see is resized perfectly...but the invisible “hardened coating” does not resize. It is always at the original size. Therefore when you approach such an object, your aircraft will react to the original invisible hardened surface and seem to jump in the air if you approach the object.

What I have done for some of these is put red buoys at the limits of the hardened surface, (Bear Observatory), warning a float plane or boat not to approach closer than the buoys. Or, the designer can change out the object. Or we can treat just live with it as we live with a “unhardened” dock you can drive through. But now you know what is happening.

General Discussion / Re: Hurricane Dorian - Freeport Bahamas -09.02.2019
« on: September 05, 2019, 09:53:31 AM »
Hurricane Dorian has now "passed" my position in South Carolina. A little windy (gusty), rainy, but basically just a windy rainstorm. Too bad the media hypes these things out of proportion chasing thousands of people our of their SAFE environments and puts them at risk on the highway.  Yes, they are bad on the coast because of the storm surge ... and if you have a cat 5 sitting on your position for 2 days, you can EXPECT to get wiped out (Bahamas). But you really have to take the "predictions" from the radio and TV with a "grain of salt." Most of the spaghetti tracks were WRONG, but when the storm passes and they erase them, everyone tends to forget. (I don't, I save the screenshots).

Another thing for people that live in this area (inland coastal SC). The hurricane always passes to the right (east) of us (following the gulf stream). If it would come from the left, it would be ON LAND and would diminish to a tropical storm quickly. So the ONLY winds we will see that could be damaging will be from the NORTH.  I only put up the north storm shutters ... takes about 20 minutes, vs putting up shutters for the whole house (2 hours +). Last night I sat on my south porch (screened) and watched the "hurricane" and read my Kindle and listened to Pandora on the dot ... completely dry. Living in a hurricane corridor, you need to study and understand YOUR location ... and disregard the hype and politics on the TV and radio.

The only difference between A and B is PAVD payware.  So the instructions to disable the indicated airports are the same for both packages. But if you have Payware, just use the "A" instructions, disregard the "B" instructions.
