Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 / Re: Jan de Jong's Vessels

That would have been a nice thing for RTMM to host on the new FS2020 Enhancements page.

I'm trying out the FStarter program.  One of the problems I encounter in FS2020 when building something is "positioning" myself right in front of the location I'm building. The SLEW in FS2020 is not useful, touch it and you slew a mile or two ... forgetaboutit!  With FStarter, I can make a "POI" (waypoint-Blind Pass Cabin), and I can be sitting on the runway at PAKT, go to FStarter, select POI, and "Blind Pass Cabin" ... click it and I'm instantly sitting in front of the cabin, on the water, no speed, correct heading. (Pretty amazing!).  This is going to be great for the developers.  It cost me 10 euros ... but I think worth every "shinkle" or whatever they call it! :-)

New RTMM Staff Member

RTMM would like to welcome Kurt "Yoda" Kalbfleisch to the Return To Misty Moorings Staff as one of our MSFS scenery designers. Rod Jackson has been working with Kurt on a new RTMM project for the last month.  Rod tells me that Kurt has been applying his experience and technical capabilities in an amazing fashion during that time.  You can see a glimpse of some of his latest handiwork HERE

Hi Ryan ...

Congratulations!!!  That's a great accomplishment.  If I were heading that way, I'd take you up on the offer. (You could always drop down to Hilton Head and pick me up :-).

Safe Flying, great to hear from you.

Update for Bakewell Lake USFS Cabin

Jim Magin, one of our RTMM Members, pointed out that our Bakewell Lake Cabin is located in the wrong place. He was correct and we have re-located the cabin to Bakewell Lake where it belongs!  Because of this, there are some updates for RTMM.  There are updated download links for the Master Downloads. If you want to make the change without downloading the master, you can re-download and install "RTMM Missing Cabins" (Scenery Page).  The WayPoints table and download were updated, so you might want to re-download and install the RTMM file. (Navigation Page). Of course, the new coordinates are on the WayPoint table (Navigation Page) for Bakewell Lake Cabin. The new flight plan is in the updated RTMM/MFC Flight folder (Navigation Page).

Our thanks to Jim for finding this error for us. But now we have a new place to go to visit, a new flight plan, and a new (and correct) cabin location.

Here's a nice rendition of PAKT, the Ferry Dock is there as are the seaplane docks.

New Video Posted on "HOW TO USE AN FS2020 DISPATCH"

I've put up a new short video explaining how to use the RTMM Dispatch (This is for version 2 that is being used with FS2020). If you haven't tried one of these, check the video, give it a try. This one happens to be for MS003 that takes you from Ketchikan over Misty Fjords, low and slow, to the high glaciers then back down to Stewart, BC. In P3D, we flew this route to the Summit Ice Station. This was always one of my favorite routes across the RTMM area.  You can find the video HERE

The MS003 Dispatch is finished and ready to use. This is a flight-seeing trip from PAKT up to Stewart BC vial the glacier.  This is about an hour trip. Most of the altitudes for the waypoints are 1800', one is at 2400' to go over a ridge, and when you get to the glacier area, you will need 7000 feet. All of this is laid out in detail in the V2 Dispatch. There are also pictures for each waypoint with guidance instructions for tricky turns. (This can also be flown in P3D.)

Go to: Home Page/Activities/ Manual Dispatches --- on that page go to FS2020 Dispatches, select MS003 "VIEW" and you have it.  If you don't know how to use/position the dispatch, look at the video on that page and see the instructions for a V2 dispatch.

Thank you, I’ve made a note.
hmmm. can't find it ... where in the dispatch is it?

From Here to There - Missions, Trip Tics and VA / FS2020 Dispatches

MS002, A dispatch for FS2020 is ready for usage. You can find it on the dispatch (manual) page. Click on VIEW to bring it up.

We need a couple of things ... one is, what to call them.  I'm using MS001, etc for the Fs2020 dispatches, I could change that. D001 for regular dispatches.

Also, I don't know how the injector works, Brad, but could you take the "words" from one of my dispatches and use those for the injection? Let me know if you see a linkage between the dispatches and what you are doing. Look at MS001 on the Dispatches page as an example. I will have MS002 done by this evening.

The problem with 2020 is we don't have anything to "go see" except the airports. I played around with MS002 (not quite done yet), and just flew some airports and flew over some other features.

But if you guys could use the wording from the dispatches, then I'll already have some done for you, routes and words.

Another idea, we could always take people to certain lakes and drop them off for fishing/camping, wouldn't need a scenery location to do that and there are thousands of lakes.

From Here to There - Missions, Trip Tics and VA / Manual Dispatch 019
« on: April 15, 2021, 12:39:14 PM »
Manual Dispatch 019 is now ready to be used. You can find it by going to the RTMM HOME page, go to "Activities" then select #8 Dispatches (Manual).  When on the dispatch page, select 010 and click on VIEW. If you do not know how to set up the dispatch with the sim, go to the VIDEO on the page that shows you how to do it very quickly.

This route is of the western area of the RTMM Misty Fjords area. Mostly seaplane bases to land it. However, if you want to fly it "wheeled", it starts and ends at Klawock and PAKT, so with wheels, you can fly the route fine. It is more fun with an amphibian so you can land and explore.

After the update, I've got problems. My Cub Amphibian is gone, the Skylark's buttons don't seem to do anything, I add a Flight Plan starting at a parking point, and I'm on the runway.  The day before yesterday everything was fine, now 2020 isn't doing so well. Going back to V5 for a while till Asobo figures out how to make a simulator.

Made the flight time change. Also added a VIMEO video at the bottom of the page to "show" people how to use these dispatches properly.
