Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Comments
« on: July 11, 2020, 10:11:20 PM »
Well another gremlin has raised its ugly head....comments are being processes but there is no content!  Strange but true.  Quite frankly I have no idea of what has caused this, but hopefully the up coming re-install of the base program and an overhaul of the data base will fix that.  In the mean time, enjoy your flights, all of the important basics are working fine.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Fixed.....maybe!
« on: May 07, 2020, 04:47:01 PM »
Well with fingers crossed, I think the problems of our bids is fixed.  Now mind you I have only tested a few flights from the schedules and from the Tour Center but in all cases you can bid the flight.  In addition, all the bids were present for flight in Cigar Box.

I am really sorry that this has taken as long as it has, but there is virtually no information available on the problem (s) so it was hours of reading code and moving files.  I hope the issues of the past are behind us and I thank all of you for you patience and understanding.

Please post any issues you find as I am not at all sure I have fixed everything.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Update MFC
« on: April 30, 2020, 12:58:17 PM »
Hello to all,

I appears that the migration to the new server broke several links that are hard to find and introducing a slew on errors although most are not affecting the operational part of the site.

When we created MFC, we added a new module at that time allowing us to creat Tours that were a packaged group of flights that then could be bid....which really was noting more than a fancy way to populate Cigar Box. As the active pilots already know, the flight are still working and available by flight number.

At this time, I am suggesting that we revert to flying by flight number for all flights, and when you complete your tour, post in the forum (there is a space already) to let us know and receive your award.

By taking this plan we avoid shutting down while we figure out a solution.  There are some issues with the hosting platform and new software allowing a modest up date. So with this plan, we can test the update or even the new beta version of the software that is coming....just not soon.

Unfortunately there are life issues that prevent this from being a full time job, but please know we are working on the issues and while this suggestion isn't perfect, it is what we have always had in the past.  Hopefully this will be one step back and three steps forward.

Thank you for your understanding.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Cigar Box
« on: April 28, 2020, 03:11:54 PM »
Rather than reply to the reports of the errors going on with Cigar Box.....here is the latest.  Current thinking is that something has gone wrong with the core program.  You can still fly by flight number without any issues, you can file the Pirep and all is well.  This is just effecting the tour portion.

It seems like the Tour Center is generating the bids correctly and the Data Base is recording those bids and that's where they are staying.  This afternoon we will reload the core files and see if that takes care of things.  I don't think this problem is directly a result of the server issues earlier this month, but of course it could be.

As you may know, Cigar Box is no longer supported, so we will help that this doesn't prove to be the problem, but on the test site, all is well.

More later,

Henry

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / P3Dv5
« on: April 15, 2020, 08:41:11 PM »
While taking a break from working on the web site, I downloaded Prepar3Dv5 and tried installing RTMM via .xml files.  It seems to be working great.  While building the .xml file is time consuming the installation was less than three minutes for the entire RTMM object Libraries, all airports and all seasonal files.

ORBX central is upgraded and works fine with v5.  I suggesting an installation that is out of sim (.xml they just aren't calling it that)

The sim loads much quicker.  FSUIPC6 is available and the process is quick and not expensive if you already have FSUIPC5. Less than $10 and WELL worth it.  Track IR coupled in as soon as FSUIPC6 loaded.  Airplanes are next....I will install them via .xml as well.

Anyway, so far, I think this one is a winner.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Good news and Bad news
« on: April 14, 2020, 06:53:58 PM »
Hi again,
The good news is the server migration is finished.....the bad news is that it broke our web site.  I have worked on all afternoon and are still working on it.  Hang in there, failure is not an option.  Norm and I are sorry for this burp....the first big one since the Flying Club took off so to speak.  Troubleshooting is a slow process.....we will keep you posted.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Monday update
« on: April 13, 2020, 01:47:10 PM »
Maybe starting a migration on Easter Sunday wasn't a great idea, it didn't work. So this morning with the help of the Tech staff at the server farm started over again, this time manually.  We just got our new IP address, so that might be a sign of progress.  The long and short of all of this is there is nothing more to do.  Even if the worst happened I have a back up of the data base that is only about 10 old from the time the site went down....so we can recover.

Check back for future updates....right now the expected time (Officially) is 24-48 hours.  Sounds like CYA, we only have 1.4 GB to migrate. Time will tell.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Migration
« on: April 12, 2020, 01:43:37 PM »
Hello all,
Migration is taking longer than I first though.  Currently just over 60% has been converted so I am not guessing another hour from now.  Keep checking back, you should see it come up.

In the meantime, manual Pireps will be accepted for flights during migration and added after the website is up.  Remember that Cigar Box will be non-functional as well during this migration.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Site Operations
« on: April 12, 2020, 11:38:32 AM »
Update:  Due to increased activity and the preservation of our historical data, we have exceeded our server plan causing the web site to crash.  In our case the solution was an easy one and we have increased the space on the Server......yep, just throw money at it.

The good news is that I am doing a migration at the moment and the site should be back up in about an hour or before 10 AM Arizona time (mountain standard time)

Both Norm and are sorry for the slight interruption, but we are good to go for the future!

Best,
Henry

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Site down

Hello to all,
For some test unknown reason, our server is off line.  We are working to figure out what has gone wrong and will advise when we are up and running.

We apologize for the interruption of service.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / CigarBox is working.......
« on: September 26, 2019, 12:03:01 PM »
As most of you know, CigarBox stopped reporting Pireps and began locking up about the 18th of September.  I was reported that other Virtual Airlines were having the same problem using the same program (kaCARSII). After a lot of hours working on the problem it didn't appear to be anything on our end.  While it is hard to ascertain the exact problem, it appears to come from Microsoft and more specifically Windows 10  So, for now we seem to be back to business as usual.

We thank you for both your feedback and your patience.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Marked "Retired"
« on: July 22, 2018, 01:49:00 PM »
Just a heads up.  For most of you, in fact we hope all of you will never experience this, but the system is programmed to automatically "retire" you if you haven't submitted a Pirep for 90 days.  If you are unable to fly due to life or a computer issue, just drop us a note and we will fix it.  If you are simply not flying at the moment, just file a pirep and everything will be back to Normal.

The program requires a time to be set and I can make it shorter not longer.  Not a big deal but now you know.

Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / More improvements
« on: April 28, 2018, 03:12:57 PM »
Two changes to the MFC web site....when you look at the tour details you will find a table of all the pilots flying the tour and their progress.  Each of the tour legs are listed so you will be able to see not only your progress, but the progress of fellow club members.  Also, you will find some additional entries in the Top Pilot category.  As before, if you notice any problems, please let us know.
