Misty Flying Club and Multi Player / Cigar Box acting up
« on: March 19, 2019, 06:10:50 PM »
Lately, Actually 3 out of my last ten flights, I've had to re-start a leg on a tour after Cigar Box went un-responsive during a flight. This happened twice on my last tour and just now on the Yukon River tour leg from Whitehorse to Carmacks.

I'm going to un-install Cigar Box and try a new installation but kind of frustrating to land, stop the flight and then find the app is not responding to anything. Mouse clicks, tab key, nothing. Task manager says the program is not responding and needs to be closed.

Wasted time is not cool.

General Discussion / Doug and Brad finally meet
« on: March 03, 2019, 04:11:34 PM »
Nina and I had the pleasure of meeting and having lunch with Doug and his wife Barb this past Friday in Savannah, GA. We met at "Huey's" and we all enjoyed some good food and great conversations. It's an honor to finally meet you and Barb! Especially since I've been having email conversations with you for the last 8 plus years!!

We've worked on so much together and now I can finally have an actual reality moment to remember.

I look forward to doing this again sometime soon. Now I need to add Klaus, Jeff, Norm, Henry and hopefully Dieter and Thomas as well on my list of RTMM team members I have yet to meet. (Doug, Spud, Dex, Rod, Steve and Robert are now checked off)

Herring Bay Cannery and Seaplane Base (Version 2)

I've created an entirely new design for Herring Bay Cannery and Seaplane Base. This version 2 edition only works with an installation of the ORBX PAKT Ketchikan payware airport!!! Version 2 sits inside the payware airports Ketchikan photo-real area and is adjusted to mesh with that scenery. You'll need to have Pacific Fjords region installed as well as the payware PAKT airport for this to work for you.

Doug and I worked on the original edition of Herring Bay Cannery (Version 1) and that works just fine within the default Pacific Fjords Ketchikan area and does NOT require the PAKT payware airport. So make sure you choose which version is right for you.

Version 2 has new objects, placements, seasonal trees and other enhancements to give the location an all new look and feel. I hope you like it. Enjoy this photo tour.

Addon Scenery and Enhancements / Refresh 2019 Notes
« on: January 09, 2019, 10:50:54 AM »
I wanted to briefly state why this refresh campaign is happening. And if you've read this before, it's just a re-affirmation then. As you may or may not know, one of our staff passed away last year. Guy "Spud" Maricich helped out with Quality Control and forum support mainly but he had a motto which he liked to use:"KISS", which stood for "Keep it Simple Stupid"

I met Spud in Pensacola FL back about 2014 and we discussed the state of RTMM and where things were going in the hobby and we were happy that FSX was still usable and that P3D would be a good way for the platform to stay viable into the foreseeable future.

Spud said to me that while he was happy with all the progress that RTMM had made, we needed to go back in to our library and start updating our offerings because of the confusing directions that were used in the readme instructions on things like objects required, etc. So I promised him that I would work with Doug on making those updates happen.

Well one thing lead to another as the old saying goes and nothing was updated. When Spud passed away, I dedicated my focus on making that promise come to fruition here at RTMM. So that's why this is being implemented.

What is the timeline for all of this to be completed? Sometime in the not too distant future. It'll get done when it get's done. There's a lot of things to go through. A lot of text to edit and update. So please be patient and help us out when you can. Like Doug said, If you find something you believe needs updating,  let us know and we'll add it to our list.

I'm going through the library of scenery and working on my locations. I've added snowbanks, made tree adjustments in placement and scale and even removed items that shouldn't be outside in wintertime, etc. Little things like that. Changing things like objects, adding some new ones maybe or changing some of the seasonal enhancements. Of course updating the documentation inside. Doug will be doing the same thing for his and other contributors will be asked to go in and do this for their scenery. Even if its just an update to the readme, txt file, these things need to be done.

With the highlight icons that Doug created, the red exclamation point and green check mark, it's easy to find out what might have some new things to see at those locations.

I hope you stay up to date here at RTMM and we're making an effort to keep that in effect. We're here for the long haul at Misty's Place. Thanks for going along on the ride.

Here's some screen grabs I just took in Winter time conditions at the revamped Misty's Place using the new lighting enhancements. These are just the airstrip and roadway flood lights only!!! There will be a minimum of six possible choices you can have with the enhanced lighting effects but you'll get even more possibilities if you choose different combinations of these options!!! Experiment and see which options you prefer to use in your simulator.

1. No enhanced lighting used. (Default)
2. Airport Lighting with runway and taxiway lights
3. Floodlights near the Hangars and Docks
4. Floodlights just on the airstrip
5. Misty's Place road lights
6. All of the options active

Enhanced lighting on the airstrip helps me line up.

Work is progressing on the update to Misty's Place. Doug and I have been actively working on a lot of things to our home base. Here's some night time lighting I'm working on currently. I wanted to keep Misty's Place in a soft light and not reliant on typical airport lighting with strobes, taxiway lights, etc. So, playing around with things I came upon a really nice effect using some of Steve Weinkamer's excellent lighting effects he created. I'm very happy with these results.

General Discussion / Tribute Scenery for "Spud"
« on: December 06, 2018, 01:10:11 PM »

With the recent passing of our friend, "Spud", I felt that I wanted to help keep his legacy alive somehow at RTMM. So, what better way than to come up with a little tribute scenery location in his honor.

I had a small airstrip scenery location near Yakutat, AK that I'd been working on in my spare time for several years now but real life kept getting in the way of it's release. When Spud passed away unexpectedly, I knew immediately what I wanted to do.

So I put the final touches on "Spud's Beasley Creek Retreat". It has a tricky approach where you follow the winding creek to one end of the dirt strip. Or you can fly past and discover a beautiful Glacial Lake near the other end of the airstrip. There is seasonal scenery in place with trees and grasses that change using our Seasonal Switcher. Special thanks to Mike Broemme  who did a great job making the airstrip itself change with the seasons. If you arrive in winter, you'll see it covered in snow and ice. Also look for some other little touches that help make it "Spud's". The flags near the porch of the main cabin have the state flag of Idaho, where he was born. The US Navy flag which Spud served in as a Naval Aviator. The POW/MIA flag, United States flag and State of Alaska. And a very small cabin across the lake near the Glacier.

You should now be able to download this special place on our scenery page under "S".

Rest in Peace "Spud"!! You'll be missed.

Addon Scenery and Enhancements / SIRP Scenery for P3D v4??
« on: August 29, 2018, 01:21:20 PM »

I'm looking for the SIRP Scenery and can't seem to find that anymore. The link is inactive on the scenery page. Sorry if I've missed the reason why but I'm not in the loop since work has been so busy for me.
