Help and Troubleshooting / No more AI traffic in SAK

Hello gents,

This is kind of a long shot, but I'm trying to find out the cause of my AI traffic having disappeared. I posted my issue on Orbx's forums but got no response.
In Alaska, I have no AI traffic anymore except for default FSX traffic. I thought maybe there might be an RTMM file that might be interfering with the FTX GA traffic files.

Note, I'm only referring to air traffic, not marine traffic, which seems unaffected. Also, I seem to get some FTX traffic elsewhere, just not in Alaska.

Hey guys, it seems like I might be missing a component of the docks for cabins. In the pic below, the arrows point to what appear to be the tops of posts(?) that line a small dock. Does anyone know what set the texture(s) are from?

Hello Gents,

I've just put the wraps on a second RNAV approach for a dirt strip in RTMM--Wilson Creek. As many of you know, this is a small GA strip (1650') at the head of Wilson Arm, southeast of Ketchikan.

Here is the IAP

And here is a pirep of a proving flight I did, weather was 1000' and 3 miles (in rain)--not exactly at miniums but close.

Starting up at Annette Island, it was my good fortune to find a Grumman Goose parked next to me. ;)

Lifting off of a wet and rainy runway.

Turning to join my on course heading.

The cloud tops left some of the Alaskan summits just poking out.

Coming down in Wilson Arm on the Final Approach course, the rain was really pelting the windshield.

One can dimly make out the field here at minimums. With no lighting to speak of, 2 miles is as good as an IFR approach can do here.

Coming up on short final to runway 36.

A two point landing without a bounce.

And shut down, with a view looking down the runway and back up Wilson Arm.

Attached are the 3 AFCAD files required to put these waypoints into your FS.

Setting the time for a few months previous, I thought I'd take a short IFR hop in the King Air to Navman's Retreat again, using RW weather from this morning.

Here is after engine start at CZST Stewart;

Back taxiing down the runway.

Fortunately, VMC conditions prevailed for my departure.

Descending into Bradfield Canal;

Completing the procedure turn.

Coming up on the Final Approach point.

A little rain but good vis below the overcast. ASOS says to expect a strong right crosswind on arrival.

The landing wasn't pretty but with only 1850 feet available, one needs to plant this beast down as soon as possible.

Not a very large ramp area but I'm told the beers are cold and plentiful here. ;)


General Discussion / New RNAV approach for Navman's Retreat

Hello folks,

I've always had a penchant for tinkering with things and remote airfields like Navman's Retreat always seem to beg for their own instrument approach so the sim flyer can get into them in bad weather.
This particular field presents some real challenges as it lies at the end of a precipitous fjord which becomes a box canyon. In addition, the runway is not aligned with the general direction of the fjord so that a straight in course is not possible.

After working around with a number of details, I came up with the following IAP;

I recognize that this isn't perfect but I kind of threw it together rather quickly. :-\

The following are a few pics from a test flight down to minimums in my C206 Stationair.

This is about four miles from the FAF at CANAL, descending down to 3000'.

The last couple legs takes you very close to the mountains on the south side of the fjord as you can see here;

One is advised not to stray from the approach course; it takes you through the V notch in the hills you see in the background;

And here is what it looks like at the Missed Approach Point;

Safely arrived;

If one really wants a sweaty palms experience, try the circle-to-land option.

Help and Troubleshooting / Anyone using Air Hauler here?

Okay, I know this isn't really the place to ask this but it has to do with RTMM sceneries and Air Hauler, a software add on that generates jobs for a freight company of your choosing.

I made AFCAD files for a number of the RTMM sceneries so they now show up on the FS map. The problem is trying to get Air Hauler to recognize them. Does anyone have any experience with this?

The funny thing is--I got it to work before and now I can't remember the trick to pulling it off anymore.
