Definitely shipping! Makes the place come alive!

[Update]: Having spent the last couple of day around the (ORBX) Valdez (PAVD) area I see it is in real need of tanker traffic. It has the oil terminals but no ships.

The G-Plan map also shows ferry routes out of PAVD. Hopefully you experts are populating those with boat traffic. Yay!

Enjoying the SAK back country now. I'd love to see shipping once I get to the coast. Can't wait!

I've pre-payed as this was always one of my favorites back in FS9, along with KORS. I'm looking forward to seeing the new rendition.

Same here.

I have Ant's Tiger Moth and the old Stearman converted to FSX. Both excellent.

Every picture shows that it must have been an amazing event!!!
I´m sure you will never forget this day!!

Indeed! Won't forget it for sure. They invited me to come again. Now the Super Cub guy wants pictures of his plane!

General Discussion / Story and aerial pictures!

For a long time I wanted to get invited to fly. After years, luck had it I met somebody with a plane, who invited me to fly and shoot. A biplane no less!

I jumped at the idea. He has a Great Lakes, open cockpit biplane, so no dirty windows to contend with. He emailed me this week saying there was a fly-in at Homestead Jet Port (X51) and would I like to fly with him? You can guess the immediate answer. He keeps the plane at Tamiami (KTMB), only 11 miles from X51, a short flight.

Not having flown before I was unsure of what to take. Wanted to have only one camera/lens as it would be inconvenient to carry more than that, and the weight in a biplane. I settled for the D700/24-70mm. It turned out to be a good choice for statics as I expected but not a great choice for aerials.

I did not know at the time but a friend of his was meeting us there. He has a Super Cub. My most-favorite plane of all time, is a J3 Piper Cub, and a Super-Cub, its descendant - by extension. I had never seen one in real life before! This day I got to see a few of them (2 J-3s in a hangar and my new friend's Super Cub), which I got to fly in!

It was a beautiful Florida day, just a little windy (15kts but luckily right on the runway heading).

We arrived at Homestead at noon.

Spent the day there with the people that flew in, having hot-dogs and talking aviation.

Then my friend says he would like to have some aerial photos of his plane. I would ride in the Super Cub, which can open the windows (we would be at 1,000ft) and shoot unimpeded.

We planned the flight. We would fly over the bay to have better backgrounds. I told them I could not get closeups with the 24-70 as we could not fly too close together. We decided to try anyway and some other time I'll bring a longer lens.

I did not do as good as I wanted  on the aerials as I purposely used slow shutter speed to get prop-blur but did not account for the strong wind and my aircraft movement. I should been a tad faster. Most shots at 1/200 are not crisp. Some at 1/320 are better. They are shot at 1,000ft, doing 90mph Wish I had a longer lens with me.

Here are some of them.

I did it almost three years ago. Once I set up on FSX like I like it, then added REX, and ORBx stuff I don't have any need for FS9 or even any other FS look-alike. I'm a happy camper (with a lot of money invested in scenery and planes), not to mention hardware.

I use it on top of REX2. It smoothes out some clouds, and adds more realistic haze.

That's why I got a new system six months ago. Now ORBx runs fine, never less than 18fps, most of the time 25-30 (capped at 30).

I have everything they put out, including Cushman. Awesome scenery.
That bridge in Bear Gulch is too narrow. I missed it a couple of times high up on the cockpit of an amphib (C185) where your visibility is limited.

Ok. Changed to another variant this time.

Daredevil's Roost.

Off we go! (Ketchikan in the distance)

That was fun.

Nice set Stanel.
Long time no C!  :D

Drop it anywhere. Go to Plan-G. Click on the Data tab (at the top), then click on Manage, then Import and find the file you got. The system will not import duplicates if you already have some of the locations.
