Good luck with getting it back up. What a stupid, random thing to do to hack your site.

One-Eye,

I started writing this long post with responses to your arguments, but it's getting way too late and I've begun to lose interest. You have some points that I agree with wholeheartedly, but you and I have different standards and I'm frankly glad that mine are lower than yours.  :)

...and besides - where's the "blank texture" that was promised and why, oh why, oh why is Carenado not complying to the FSX dds texture format? and why, oh why, oh why have they still not made use of the texture.cfg functionality?
You'll find it here: http://www.carenado.com/CarSite/Portal/index.php?accion=update

Regarding .dds, that could be because of the quality loss. Even dxt5 mucks up textures.

Sorry the C185 was a disapointment to you Chris. I know I'll keep on flying it untill the day A2A or Realair comes up with a bush plane.  :) (yeh, I've got the Cub)

But why are you guys so picky about Carenado stuff, yet still fly and paint default and aerosoft aircraft?

Addon Scenery and Enhancements / Re: STC mod looking for tester(s)...

Tried it with the update today. The throttle and prpm varies wildly. I eased back on the throttle and the rpm dropped to zero before moving back up and start fluctuating. Man, it's fast though!

I tried painting it to look like one of Texas Turbine Caravans, but that gave me a headache...

Because of some trainee courses I won't be around for more testing untill Saturday.

All I can say is that I very much disagree. :) I only have the 185 and 208, but when it comes to looks and details, they are by far my favourites. You really should give the 185 a try, the only way it looks old is the tear and wear.

That looks great! Love the ground textures.

I have a scenery plan in place to make this happen. Well, sort of. I originally wanted to make it a multi-player fly-in competition, but would be kind of hard to do that I think.

Actually I think that's been done pretty succesfully. The guys at flightsim.no had a competition at Darrington with lots of traffic cones on the runway, and did STOL takeoffs and landings with Porters, Cubs etc.  :)

The paintkit is good, haven't seen any mirroring and it's easy assemble all the main pieces to make a Cera style paintkit. The 185 Bush package is fairly cheap too I believe.

Gimme a few minutes and I'll have a look at the flaps.

Edit: Okay, they don't simply rotate, there is some backwards movement too. If it qualifies as "para-lift" I don't know.

I'm interested too. How does an 38kt increase work with the current airspeed gauge, does it need to be replaced? Also, for the spinning propeller, it's not difficult to make it a four blade (I can do that for you, if it's needed), but as you said, the actual model is the problem.

Any chance you can do this for the Carenado version too?

Very cool initiative, thanks!

I know what you mean, but that's usually the short Caravan doing the bush jobs, right? My comment was mostly about the Carenado version, it seems like it's geared for commuter transport, not for travel to Alaskan remote airstrips and such. (Though that's what I use it for..)

Probably not, Slartibartfast made terrain mesh, he didn't place scenery objects.  ;)

Thanks!
Robert, yeah, that's the Carenado Grand Caravan. Not completely "bush", but it flies nice once loaded up properly.  :)

Never written one of these before... I did cut down on the number of screenshots, but it's still a lengthy story... I hope you like it!

Hi, my name is John and I've been living in Alaska for a year now, but this was my first trip to the legendary Misty's. Got my job working as a rampie for Wildbird Aviation, a small-ish charter operator in BC and southern Alaska. The owner is actually another Norwegian who came here pretty much the same way I did, as just another low time pilot with an unhealthy fascination for short strips & bad weather. He was the pilot on the trip to Misty, which gave me plenty of time to take pictures, inbetween stoving cargo and learning the ropes.

We started at Klawock with the Grand Caravan after spending the night there. Have a look at the windsock in front!

Got up to altitude and found the sun. Combined with the 20-30 knot headwind it produced some angry mumbling from the left seat all the way to Ketchikan!

While I was just glad I didn't have business down there:

The innlet to Ketchikan up by the center post there. Had to swing by there to drop off most of our passengers and cargo. It was starting to cloud over again too, which was a relief to our eyes.

Why's it called Misty fjords again..?

The wind dropped to just 3kts so landing was nice. Maybe we should have floated further down the runway before settling down, it was a long way to taxi to the exit. Taking a short cut down the hill would have been uncomfortable!

Picture of the bird, with the boss still looking very focused. The tail art is supposed to be geese I think...

We're outta here! Plenty of cruise ships are here already. Leveled off just after that and turned down toward Misty.

"What you doing Chief?" "Looking for a map.." "Why?" "Never been here before" "....Okay..."

We aborted this one...

Second attempt, looking good this time! A tourist got this picture for us.

I haven't got any pics of the return trip to PAKT, guess who was flying?  8)

Cheers, John.
