Verified, I've let Doug know.   Probably just a small mistake when making the latest update and the index page failed to upload.

Here's a link to the Maintenance Log.

And here is the BWEP page.

Thank you.  One bourbon, one scotch, one beer.   :P
Sounds like a plan.   ;D

Annnnnd, complete.  Everything should be back to normal.   Both the static site and the forum now both have SSL certs.    Happy little padlocks for your browser address bars.  Now I need some bourbon.   :o

I've manually removed the rewrite rule for forcing https connections for now on the static site, but if your browser is cached, you may still see it yelling scary "this site is trying to steal your information!" types of messages .. I'm working with support to see what is going on with the SSL cert order, and why it hasn't processed yet.

In the meantime, if you're getting the errors, you can just clear your browser cache and you should be good.

I'm in the process of implementing an SSL certificate on the static site as well (, there may be some intermittent issues while it is completed.

Update: the forced-https rule is in effect, but for some reason the cert is taking a long time to go through, resulting in a security "warning" on the main site.    Rest assured, the site is completely safe, it's just trying to use an SSL cert that isn't quite there yet.    >:(

Object Libraries for RTMM / Re: New RTMM Object Library

Yeah, it's the old "quote then edit later" spammer.   Dealt with.

This thread became a mess due to a spammer and the ensuing posts, but it's not one started by a spammer and needs to stick around.   Consider all posts after this valid.   ;D

I very much prefer to not ever delete posts unless they're from spammers, but I'm going to clean this thread up a bit and get rid of the derailed conversation.  As always, many thanks for reporting spammers!

Carry on!

Thanks for the fix Norm!

P.S. I just made my first donation to the site and I greatly appreciate all the volunteers who make this community fly.
Thank you very much for the donation, Brian.  It really helps out a lot!

The cert only applies to the forum (   There is no need for a cert on the static website ( because there is no authentication taking place on that side of things.  Your forum credentials are not used on the static website, they are separate domains.

Well, that didn't take as long as I had anticipated.     SSL Cert is now active.

Everyone will be redirected to the secure version of the site in order to make sure things like bookmarked non-https links still go to the proper place.

Please let me know if you run into any issues.

I'm adding an SSL cert to the site in order to boost our security profile a bit.   You may notice some "strangeness" with the forum and cookies while this happens. You will possibly have to reauthenticate after the upgrade is complete.

It should be done by tomorrow sometime.

Thanks for your understanding.

Screenshots / Re: Uploading Screenshots
« on: February 14, 2019, 02:02:29 AM »
I agree the screenshot upload process isn't the best, but we're doing what we can.  It's something we can certainly revisit at some point.

As Beardgoblin mentioned, I personally prefer uploading to imgur (if anything, for the image compression) and then posting to the thread via bbcode.

In the early days of the site, we were getting people uploading insanely large raw images which actually "broke" my initial attempt to test out a new forum system since we couldn't migrate.    I'm looking into upgrades for our current forum, and I'll be sure to include more efficient screenshot uploads into that investigation.

Thanks for the feedback.

Wow, this brings be back, I created a little teaser trailer for CIRP way back then...     (in my early learning days of video editing, forgive the fast cuts on text  ;D )

Thanks for confirming simurq, your previous post helped narrow it down a lot.  This should help everyone see the NOTAM section (which is an important section!).  I'm glad we could get this sorted out.
