Title: Herring Bay
Post by: wschneid on January 17, 2012, 07:30:46 PM
Hey guys. Anybody got an idea why my Herring Bay scenery is high and dry (see screen shot). The buildings and boats are inland.

Sorry, screen shot is too big.

Try setting FTX Central to default, then back to North America. Make sure ORBX PFJ is installed and configured correctly with mesh resolution set to 5 m. If those settings are confirmed, you shouldn't have scenery sitting inland at Herring Bay.

Brad,
Thanks for the info. However I am having trouble getting the FTX Central to work. I have a new computer with Win 7. I used installed FTXORBLIBS_111207, but when I try to run FTXcentral I get an error message saying that certain folder or files cannot be seen. Do I have to install something else first that I am missing.

Don't know the answer but this link will take you to the FTX support forum, where I'm sure someone will have the answer to your FTC Central problem.

How did you install the library 111207?  You cannot run the .exe from the archive directly.  First unzip the archive file and then run the .exe file to correctly install the current library.   After it runs and installs the files you can then delete the FTXORBXLIBS_111207.exe installer file.  You still have it in the archive when you need it again.  (You did save the .zip file when you downloaded it from ORBX correct?)

Start FTX Central, click Tools then Reports and finally FTX Products Installed.  The first entry in the list should be "FTX AA ORBX LIBRARIES VER 111207 December 7th 2011"

Post the exact quote, verbatim, of the error message you get when running FTX Central.

Brad,
Thank you again for your time. I followed your instructions. I reinstalled the library using the install.exe. I then deleted it from my temp folder. I then went directly to the ORBX folder in FSX and ran the FXTCentral.exe from the FXTCentral folder. I got an error message "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application..." Under that it said, "the given key was not present in the dictionary." I continued anyway and following your directions went to the Tools/Products installed report and got another error message, "Object referred not set to an instance of an object."
I don't have Pacific Fjords installed, but I have it on order. Would that make any difference?

Thanks,

Ah, yes.  Once you get the PFJ scenery installed correctly, the shorelines will change.  I bet you're problems will be solved.

Brad,
Thanks again for your help. It would have been nice if somewhere it would have said that. But anyway, I'l wait until it is installed and try again.

See there the RTMM scenery is so popular that reading the requirements have fallen to the wayside!   :-[  I think wachneid has to buy the beer for that gaff.   ;D
