Yes, just noticed it, too.
I will install it this Weekend....I hope 5.1 is good and stabile.
We had to wait a long time for release.

vram usage still the same but resulting in device error pop-up.

still black textures on objects when changing the views.

EA still has this shimmering around the objects, same as HF2. Buildings popping through haze still.

CTD for unknown reasons.


That's what is on the forums. I'm not in a hurry to upgrade.

I went for it.  Flies fine, but the two things I've noticed so far are the blackish ground textures in various places that don't resolve, and Active Sky's "as_version" connect doesn't work yet with 5.1.  Frame rates seem the same to me and VAS seems the same.

I got a response from the P3D forum regarding textures....
Do you use Orbx addons? It is a well known issue cause by a filed overwritten by new version of P3D. This is how to solve it (from Orbx forum): it is happened to me a lot of times (it works also with P3D5, even it speaks about P3D4). Plerase follow the instructions exactly in this orde (I suggest you to do all):



First run Verify files for Global Base and for all your open LC products and

the Orbx Libraries to rule out the possibility of missing files.


If this does not work:

1a. If your Orbx Libraries are installed into the P3D folder

Please try renaming Scenery\BASE\Scenery\lclookup.bgl to lclookup.bgl .off

Run Verify files for the Orbx Libraries which will replace the lclookup.bgl file.

1b. If your Orbx Libraries are installed into an Orbx Central Library, please do not rename

Scenery\BASE\Scenery\lclookup.bgl to lclookup.bgl .off

2. Rename C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\terrain.cfg to terrain.cfg.off

3. Run P3D v4 once to create a new terrain.cfg file and close it.

4. Then run Sync Simulator in Orbx Central which will write back the Orbx entries.

Orbx Central\Help\Sync Simulator

5. Then try P3D again.

I'm pleased with 5.1 so far.  Nice.  No cloud flickering too; which is great.  I'll have to wait for F1's GTN650/750 to update and for Active Sky to do the same.  The UT Live BETA version is working well.

I‘ll install v5.1 Today or tomorrow.
RXP GTN 750/650 is already updated to v5.1.

There are Reports of issues with ActiveSky and v5.1.
LM sayed they are working on a hotfix with Hifi to solve the problem.
It seems to be a problem with simconnect.

Milviz weather radar also needs to be updated. At the moment it‘s not combatible with v5.1.

I installed v5.1 client this morning.
Just did a few minutes flying, but didn‘t noticed a real benefit from the new version so far.

EA is still not usuable in VR Single Pass Stereo mode. There are significant fps drops noticable. But maybe this is due to my old GTX1080 which is awaiting retirement so urgent......

In non EA mode I noticed flashing smoke textures, e.g. The chimney smoke. I‘ll observe that issue futher.

Though Milviz weather radar is not yet updated, it seems to works with v5.1.

Active Sky does not work yet with v5.1. It stops working after launch.

HiSimulations and Lockheed have announced (in separate posts) that Active Sky will not be able to connect to P3dv5.1 until Lockheed issues a hotfix for P3Dv5.1.  No comments were made on how long that will take.  I am sticking with P3Dv5.0 HF2 for now.

Yes, I went back to v5.0 HF2, too.
Let‘ see how long the release of the hotfix will take.

p.s.: what's the matter with the marketing people at LM and Asobo/MS. Yes, I think that's hurried releases, not letting the developers do their work properly and with enough time. Those people do more damage than good.

I‘m back on v5.1 again..now with ASP3D RC1.

My problems with flashing smoke on my first v5.1 install are again after this new installation.....this is good news.
