Title: MSFS2020 sceneries
Post by: GrizzlyAir on October 10, 2020, 11:37:00 PM
I’ve started adding sceneries into MSFS2020 that were missing from the St Elias - Wrangell National Park for Alaska Adventures.  Has anyone started sceneries for Misty’s yet?   This is my happiest flying is with the scenery between Misty’s and the flight with aka.  Please tell me some good news and say that you guys have started.  :)

The last known information I read in this forum said that the conversion of the RTMM sceneries for the FS2020 has not yet started.
There was also a worrying addition: ... if ever ...

Perhaps a member can provide more specific information.

Dan has been working on this just to see if it can be done. He created a scenery with a cabin, a pier and a couple objects. If you are dealing with a perfectly flat environment things will work. But a pier cannot be lowered down in the water, some roofs are transparent. We don’t have an ADE or an IS3. And there is a severe lack of objects. My personal feeling is 2020 is simply a beta...it is absolutely not ready for prime time. So we are going to have to wait until 2020 is a predictable and finished product, particularly for the Alaska region. It is fun to fly, but Alaska without the Photogametry is about as thrilling as flying over a carpet. I also do not believe our area is TRUE as to topography. Look at the Misty’s Place location... 2020 is not at all like the topography there now, which is correct P3D or 2020?. One wonders if they will someday have a world update in the Alaska area with topography changing drastically as it did with world update for Japan. We could put things into the scenery, then the topography would be changed overnight and we would be starting over.

So my feeling right now is to treat 2020 like a beta, when ADE gets it figured out (and they are working on it), then we may place some test sites. But again until Alaska is “true typographically” we don't intend to waste time on something that could be all blown away with the next update.  It is beautiful,  it is fun and it will be a great sim....SOMEDAY.

For now I am enjoying flying V5. After a few weeks flying the 2020 beta,  coming back to V5 and RTMM is almost magical.  I honestly had taken for granted all we have done with FSX and P3D.  For now, for me, it was time to RETURN to Misty Moorings.

I've just finished adding 8 different airports/airstrips around St Elias - Wrangell area back in:

Long Lake
Swift Creek
McCarthy
May Creek
Glacier Creek
Chisana
Sportsmens Paradise
Duffy's Tavern

I have figured out how to create airports and runways for these and add objects as needed, but not user created objects yet...that's my next task

This is a nice thread.  It seems misplaced though.

I think it should be under the "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020" section.   ;)

Creating more objects so we can cache fuel around Alaska  Gives the bush planes some insurance and longer legs

November 24th.  The USA update/fix is scheduled for Nov 24.  No idea if that will fix Alaska or not
