Title: cigar box jumping legs again
Post by: av8erjm on May 21, 2020, 07:14:02 PM
Norm or Henry Once again the cigar box is giving me credit for legs I haven't flown yet. This time on MFC0041 I finished leg 5 at 00C  Animas Air Park, so I click on stop flight and then on file pirep and let it cook until the window comes up operation timed out. I then close out the cigar box and open the tour center page and somehow it shows I had also completed leg 6 ending at 07V Cuchara Valley Apt At La Veta.   Oh and on my pilots page under view my pireps it shows two entries for leg 5 from kpso to 00c   I don't know if it helps to tell you when something like this happens. Or if I should even bother you with it. At any rate I flew leg 6 w'o making any entries  I won't be flying any father tonite as it is dinner time

Yes I show your last pirep as KPSO/00C. Completed. (which was leg 5), not leg 6!!You should be starting leg 6. Now I know Henry was doing some work in the db and is to fix some of the site connectivity issues. Hopefully he'll be able to shed some light.

In the mean time, you can fly leg 6 via single flight # (if you're up to to it), then hopefully back on track for leg 7.

Arg, yes it helps so we can check what is going on. Thanks Jim.

Norm

I flew leg 6, but w/o using the cigar box,  I'm not worried about the hours lost, just like seeing were the road takes me, sure wish someone out there could program a virtual air tank for some of these flights. There is a guy over at A2A that has made a program, but some reason it only seems to work on A2A aircraft

oxy tank/cylinder for some of these legs, but you knew what I meant didn't you. There is a guy over at A2A that has programmed what he calls an oxynator works great for their aircraft to fly above 12.5, I'm not privy enough to figure out to make it work in other than A2A aircraft. Something about Accusim that makes it work I think. Any I've used it on their V35, PA24 and the C182

Yes, I know what you mean.  lol.  The flightplans have a tendency to follow ridges and mountain peaks.  A head scratcher for me.  Try getting an Icon A5 up to 21,500, to clear Denali.  A real challenge.  Thanks Norm.   ;)

Jeff maybe you need to try a taller ladder. The beaver wasn't the fastest aircraft in my hanger but it had enough umpf to get over the Continental Divide when it had to

Yes, I usually fly a beaver.  I was using an Icon A5 for a tour I was flying at the time though.  I'm back in my beaver now.   ;)

Low n slow mostly with a few exceptions to summits: so not running along the tops of ridges but in the valleys or gorges between them and the up and over when necessary and only to get out or over  "box canyons" then a big climb to see the summit - to the top of the mountains and see Ranges. Lol . Oxygen at 12 thousand..then back down and usually follow natural landmarks: rivers, valleys,  or man-made landmarks like highways, power lines, etc.. lol .. hopefully a scenic trip..and a challenge to be able to reach a important landmark. Hands on the controls please as these trips are not exactly condusive to autopilot use for most part. .
