Shiny. :) 8)
wait, ... what?
I'm confused ... ???
-
I‘m confused, too....just read it should be released 2020 for PC and Xbox.
-
This announcement leaves me completely relaxed. I'm very reserved and rather skeptical about this. I just think about the flop with MS "Flight".
I can not imagine that MS reinvented the wheel after they sold the flight simulator source code to LM.
Moreover, if this project comes true, the old FSX software will hardly be compatible.
So, we will see what the future holds ...

Yes, I See it the same way.
As long as MS doesn‘t show anything new....I See it more as an arcade game than a simulation Software comparable the P3d or Xplane.
Though the graphics look gorgious in the Trailer......I guess, If it will be like FSX, we will enjoy them with all sliders to the right in 2030...
-
Will it run on my Commodore 64?

wow.. Ok!! Boy the plot thickens... The Old FSX vs FSX SE vs P3Dv4.5 versus X-Plane 11 versus the New Microsoft Flight Simulator.. I guess one will have to bite the bullet on which sim to stick with or to change to!!
-
Honestly, for me it would not be an option to move to any other sim. No RTMM there, it's easy like that.
Karl
-
Yup ditto for me too.
-
Hello
It's not 1 April 2019, is it?
I can't believe it's going to be so good that we're all going to desert P3D.
Mind you the trailer does look good.

Sorry guys, X-Plane is the only way to fly. Only down side, no Misty and that is a shame. I can only imagine what these places would look like in X-Plane.
-
Yep, you'll miss us because aren't going to rebuild RTMM for every new flight sim that comes along.
Doug

Time will tell but here’s hoping we don’t have to rebuild things for the next version of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

I heard the same thing from Venema over at ORBX when I asked when/if Orbx was going to support X-Plane. His exact words in his usual sarcastic reply was "Never, won't happen, Orbx will never support X-Plane." Several months later they announce their first scenery for...... X-Plane!
How many here have tried or do fly X-Plane when not enjoying Misty?
-
If you are willing to make the scenery and support it, I'll put it up. But none of this stuff is TIME FREE. I, personally won't be making any scenery for anything but P3D/FSX.
-
ORBX said it wouldn't happen because they were obviously working on it and didn't want the world to know until it was ready. When it WAS ready, and only then, they released it so that they could profit from it. What would you expect someone to say about a product that was under wraps?

Let's be clear, Orbx hired a bunch of experienced expert X-Plane ortho scenery developers which suddenly gave them the manpower to get True Earth out the door in quantity and start making more money. All of their FSX/P3D developers are tied up on other projects making money. This is one of the reasons True Earth P3D is lagging so far behind True Earth X-Plane. JV has even posted that he has more FSX/P3D talent coming on board soon to help Orbx catch up on the FSX\P3D True Earth releases.
Sorry to disappoint you, BBQSteve, but the difference in developing scenery for X-Plane vs FSX/P3D is like the difference between speaking English fluently and speaking Japanese fluently. I don't expect a lot of FSX\P3D developers to start doing X-Plane development in the near future. I don't expect any RTMM developers to be making that jump in the foreseeable future.
To put this thread back on topic, for me, the big question is what will the scenery development structure for the New Microsoft Flight Simulator be like. If any of it resembles the P3D scenery development environment, it would give the new Microsoft Flight Simulator a real boost.

Rod,
I agree. Keeping this on subject, I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a great thing to find out that all of our work for almost 10 years now will not be out of date with the new MSFS 20 platform. However, if not, then there will still be a few years of FSX/P3D usage for us to play with until things move on permanently.
Time will tell. Who knows, with the talent on this team, I am thinking that we might be able to come up with a solution that is workable.
We will see.
