Hi all: I'm thinking about upgrading my GeForce GT240 I've had for years :-[(not the best for FSX). Don't have much money to spend :( I'm wondering if this (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 SLI DVI/HDMI/DP Gaming Graphics) would be a halfway decent one? I think it would help me quite a bit. Any advice appreciated ;) thanks :)

In my opinion the GTX980 will be a great improvement over the GT240 for FSX. I was using a GTX980/4GB still for P3D V3 and id did ok.

Indeed John.. it will be much better. Until last week I was using a GTX970/4GB for my sim.
The GTX980 is faster than the 970 so you shouldn't have any problems - and you'll notice the stronger card for sure.

If you can, get the 980Ti, the extra performance and memory will help considerably. I've been running one a couple of years now and it still does a fine job.

For sure Steve.. that is if you can even find a 980TI anywhere! Not made anymore and rare to find in new retail but >> you might find a used one for private sale but be careful with that. (Best not to go used for these types of electrical components if it can be avoided as usually there is no way to test and you get the thing in as is condition and there is no guarantees!) But hey you might be lucky to get a good used one for cheap that lasts for a few years.!!

Thanks again Steve and Norm, I haven't seen any 980Tis :'(

If you want to see how GPU's (and other hardware) compare, I use this website. I also use their Passmark Performance software to test my system when I'm making hardware, software, or configuration changes to see what was impacted and if it was in my best interest.

The EVGA GTX1660 card is a new low budget card. Go to Amazon and search for it.
