Title: C.I.R.P. Totally Refreshed
Post by: Doug on January 14, 2019, 05:00:35 PM
C.I.R.P. (GLACIERS!) ... has been TOTALLY Refreshed!

The entire CIRP program has been revamped, new downloads and a new dedicated CIRP page. All of the ice stations (10) are now in the SAME download zip file ... one download, all 10 stations and the ndb's too. If you look on the Scenery Page under "C" you will see all the CIRP entries, the ice stations zip, plus all of the other CIRP addons associated with the program. Everything can be downloaded in about 3 minutes now.

NOTAM: You should DELETE all of your CIRP sceneries from your Sim's Scenery Library, then add these refreshed files. DO NOT overwrite!

The CIRP Scenery Page has been totally revamped. The only thing we are really missing is the hovercraft (we are looking for a replacement). But in the meantime, the CIRP Stalwart is one heck of a land vehicle. You can download a "tricked out" Stalwart from the Land Operations table. Following the glacier dispatches, you can drive the vehicle safely out on the ice and literally cover MILES and MILES of terrain. The "Tricked out" version is set up with 3D REDUX lights if you have the program and a special modified "Ground Handling" system that give you speed control for the vehicle. The engine is souped and can send the Stalwart up very steep inclines.

For the air operations there are dispatches that will take you on various supply runs out to the 10 ice stations. All of them are equipped with an NDB so you can tune in your target station on the vehicle's ADF and find the location. This can give you some spectacular flying ... 6000 feet and higher. Weather is always a factor .. and when it is "clear" ... the view is spectacular showing you the fastness of the glacier system above the beautiful Misty Fjords.

There is an "introductory" tour on the CIRP page so you can take a tour (once you've loaded up CIRP) that will take you from PAKT to Summit Ice Station. A great way to see the transition from Fjords to Glaciers, all autopilot guided (except for altitude) so you can enjoy the tour.

All of the location downloads are done from the Scenery Page under "C". And all the information and dispatches are on the dedicated CIRP page.

I have SIRP in my library.  Should that be deleted?

SIRP has nothing to do with CIRP - two different sceneries - keep it!

Doc ... actually that was a good question. People could get those confused. Thank you for bringing it up so others understand too.

Indeed could be confusing:   Cambria vs Stikine.

Quick summary:

C. I. R. P.  is the "Cambria Icefield Research Project"  is located in the Stewart BC Area and the ice stations are named/numbered PF40 through PF49.

S. I. R. P.  is the "Stikine Icefield Research Project" is located along the Alaska/British Columbia border just east of Petersburg, Alaska, United States and south east of Juneau Alaska.  (The ice stations are named/numbered SRC#).

Wow, this brings be back, I created a little teaser trailer for CIRP way back then...     (in my early learning days of video editing, forgive the fast cuts on text  ;D )

Hey Dan, that was pretty cool.  Since I wasn't part of the team in 2011, it was new to me.

Thanks!

Hello,

With the old CIRP scene, there were "Effect" and "Sound" files associated with it to install.
Are there any more in the new scene?

I’ll look into that today for you.
(Still working on it ... I didn't use blowing snow so asking others for help)

Friday Morning: We are still working on it. So far, we can't see it in P3D Vxx but Jeff thinks he sees a "little" effect of it. So we are going to look into tweeking the effect if we can. So far, nothing is working ... I'll keep you posted here.

....STEVE FIXED IT!!! See most recent post.

Here are the "lights" for the Hovercraft. Put this into your "aircraft.cfg" for the Hovercraft. You will see "Shockwave" lights, but if you don't have shockwave, this will still work. Enjoy.

light.0 = 3, 12.20, -11.45, -0.45, fx_navredSM //port mid
light.1 = 3, 17.4, -1.6, 6.0, fx_navredSM // port high
light.2 = 3, 12.7, 11.35, -0.35, fx_navgreSM //starboard mid
light.3 = 3, 17.4, 1.6, 6.0, fx_navgreSM  //starboard high

Still making improvements ... here's the "painted" RED panel from Klaus Tröppner. Now this adds some sparkle to the old gal!  The Stalwart never looked better. You can get this from the CIRP page / Ground Operations / Tricked Out Stalwart package.

Thank you Klaus ...

The Blowing Snow Effect is back at CIRP!  (Handie, the blowing snow is back!)

Steve Weinkamer has done it again. Our object magician has converted the old SIRP blowing snow effect to work with the modernized software ... so it now works in FSX and P3D Vx.x. This took several hours of work on Steve's part. I'm not sure  folks who can quickly click on a link and get magic like this,  fully appreciate the HOURS that make something like this happen. Many thanks, Steve!

OK, thank you. I've put the sound package up on the main CIRP download look for the "sounds" button down by the zip. That should do it for you.
