Title: Milviz Beaver Repaint N001MM...!?
Post by: Timmy74 on January 18, 2018, 06:20:24 AM
Hello Chaps,

I have just downloaded and installed the Milviz Beaver repaints  for RTMM and for some strange reason the "starboard" flap/aileron, horizontal stabiliser and wing strut are black!?!

What have I done wrong....?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Tim.

Sorry Timmy.  Not sure why some of your plane would not show the texture.  Maybe reinstalling the paint will fix it?  ???  Can you post a pic of it?

Hello Jeff,

Thank you for your reply. I have -multiple times- un-installed and then re-installed this paint and it is just the same each and every time....?

Hi guys,
Klaus should step in here eventually.  He is the developer of this repaint.  Here is my Milviz Tundra with the texture applied.  Seems to work for me.  All the paint is on one "sheet", and the model references areas of it to get the colors.  One sheet fits all models, because the body of all the planes are the same.  There is no separate sheet for the left or right side, or flaps etc.  Very strange.  :-\

Hello Timmy,
Hello Jeff,
could you post which version (filename) you have?

The repaint was made for the first version that was published by milviz.
I realized there was a new version published some tome ago.
Maybe Milviz changed something in the textures file which needs to be fixed...

Hi Klaus,
I have "MilVIZ Beaver_RTMM_N001MM.zip", dated 6/21/17.  The texture file is "Beaver_ext.dds", and is dated 6/9/17.

I notice I have another "texture.n001mm" folder from 8/27/14.  Most likely for the Aerosoft Beaver, eh?  We need more diverse tail numbers, I think.  :P

Hello Jeff,
I need to know the version of the Milviz Beaver you are using, not the filename of the RTMM paintscheme..

Thank you for the filename of your installed Milviz Beaver, Jeff.

This is the same I have installed and the paint was done for.
So I guess Milviz changed something in the paintkit with the newer versions of the Beaver.

Hello Jeff,

How can I find the version number of the Milviz Beaver....!?  I have checked the aircraft.cfg file but it says nothing?  I have also loaded the Milviz MVAMS and it does not tell me either!?!?

I am pretty sure I have the version that was previous to the -the now new one- that was released on the 30 of December 2017.....171229. :o

How can i check which version I have please?

Cheers,
Tim.

The version number is part of the installer's filenames.  ;)

Would you be so kind as to tell me -step by step- how to go about finding the current version of the Milviz Beaver I have installed please...!?

The little icon that use to be present on my desk top -for installs-no longer works due to me opening up the MVAMS and denying it from upgrading to latest version...which is 171229.

I believe when Milviz did the play n' spray expansion they changed something that wouldn't allow for repaints up to that point no longer show right, don't remember if I read it on the forums or where, what I did was keep the orig download just for my repaints especially the RTMM paints. I do have a question to the painters here, I have heard on some of the forums around that Milviz planes are harder to paint than say Aerosoft or Carenado  ETC. Just curious why is that, I've tried to work with the Otter, but my skills are very sub par

Hello,
O.k., thank you all! I found a threat on the Milviz forums explaing the cause of the texture anomalies.
It is as said, Milviz changed some time ago the textures with release of the spray expansion.

So the RTMM paint for this bird need to be fixed. I will do this as soon as possible, probably the following weekend. By the way, this is a good reason for making the Milviz Beaver ready for pipeline inspections with a BWEP paintscheme.
Thank you for the heads up on this issue, but I was very busy at work in the past months and didn‘t notice this issue. Please stay tuned, I‘ll upload a fixed version soon.

@av8erjm
Milviz paintkits offer great detail and lots of nice effects like weathering and dirt effects. This make the paintschemes look very nice and realistic. Also they use 4096 hd textures to achieve the nice look. The downside is, that the photoshop-files of the painkit are extremly huge in datasize. Also the files contain dozens of different layers you have to check out what they are used for and how to work with them properly.
This expands the time needed for doing a paintscheme.
But I love the Milviz paintkits, because you can do very accurate paintschemes.

O.k., just downloaded the new paintkit for latest milviz beaver from their homepage. There are new files  included which should cover the problems with tail and wings. So the issues with the RTMM paintscheme should be possible to solve.

Interesting note about milviz paintkit huge datasize.
The old paintkit was 178 mb zipped and about 400 mb unzipped datasize.
The new paintkit is 314 mb zipped and nearly 700 mb unzipped datasize...........

Hmmm, 700mb paint kit? ???  How many gallons is that, ... sounds like a lot?   :-\
You could paint an aircraft carrier with that, I bet!!  :P

Hello,
The issues with the RTMM Misty Beaver paintscheme for the Milviz Beaver due to changes of the developpers in the model‘s tectures are fixed. The fixed paintscheme should now work with the latest versions of the Beaver released.

So if you experience texture issues on your Milviz Misty Beaver, these will appear on the wings, wingstakes and wingtails, then please redownload and install the paintscheme again.

I will find the fixed paintscheme (date: 01-28-2018) in the Enhancements section of the RTMM forums.

Hello corbu1,

Thank you very much.  It is great to finally have the RTMM paints working again. Now I can keep racking up the hours on the Milviz Beaver.

Maybe this fix should be mentioned in the "NOTAM's" page?

Many thanks and kind regards,
Tim.

I am really pleased that these textures have been done.  I was just wondering if there were any plans to do a paint for the float only version that exists in the enhancement package?  I much prefer flying pure floats.
