Title: Issue with water bleed through in P3D
Post by: Bradallen43 on July 03, 2014, 12:35:13 AM
Further P3D challenges to tackle.  >:(

Flying near lakes in SAK and I see these anomalies near the shore. The landclass will finally fill those in. Sometimes. Sometimes they stay and it's weird. I posted over on the ORBX forums too. But maybe somebody here might have an answer? Here's what I posted at ORBX.

==============

Hello,

New to the P3D family with ORBX FTX regions. So far I'm having some challenges and I'd like to see if this issue might have happened to anybody else before. When I'm flying near lakes in SAK, I'm seeing small water squares in the near the shore land class. These happen not just by the lake or water body shorelines, but up the sides of the surrounding terrain quite a bit. These small tiles appear in the landscape as I approach and then most of the time, the land class will finally load over the top of them, but sometimes they hang on without being replaced by land tiles and it's just very odd looking.

I'm having some micro-stuttering and somewhat blurry landclass that will come into sharpest focus just in front of the aircraft perspective. I could sure use some help as I'm a P3D newbie with the ORBX regions and I want to really make sure I'm not missing the best experience because I'm tweaked wrong or not optimizing my gear for the software as it should be.

Thanks for any help, I appreciate it.

I haven't seen this, but I'll keep my eyes open.  Where are you in that picture?  I flew a tour around Anchorage today, but the sim was running beautifully.

BTW, I wanted to share something I just did.  I'm "cleaning house" in my computer.  I moved the FSGlobal2010 bgl collection (23GBs) from my E: drive HDD to my U: drive SSD, and now my sims run better (I think) and 1.5 times more fps.  More testing flights are needed in different terrains, but I don't usually get 45 fps and much faster loading terrain textures with high slider settings.  I'm trying to eliminate the last HDD from my system.

I have seen this recently also.  Weird.   :o  I don't think it's related to any particular place.  It happens all over.   ;)

This is a P3Dv2 issue where certain land classes do not quite behave correctly in P3D versus FSX when the terrain is close to some water . The ORBX SAK SP4 patch adjusted at least one land class to minimize the effect but it can still happen with several other land classes.  Hopefully this will be fixed in the future by Lockheed.

I'm seeing it at the Sitka Blue Lake site.
