Title: huge unnatural spray cloud taxiing float
Post by: gert57 on May 14, 2014, 01:17:28 AM
Hi all,
as an avid rttm flyer I often land on water.
What mars the flying experiennce is that as soon as I touch down, a HUGE cloud of mist and spary envelopes the plane. When in external view the fps drops from 40+ to 10-, and taxiing becomes a bad slide show.
When inside the VC and looking forward, it drops to 20-25, no problem.
Only if you look around you see the cloud and the slide show starts again.
Does anybody know if there is a way to disable the cloud of spray on landing or make it a lot smaller and more life like?
I have seen a lot of float planes land, but this FSX rendition is absurd.
Help appreciated,
Gert57

Gert57,
There are fixes to remove the dirt and snow clods and the engine snow spray effects from FSX so I'm inclined to think the spray can be modified too.  For informational purposes which aircraft are you using when the spray pattern is a problem.  I ask because looking in the effects folder of FSX I see spray effects for various airplanes listed.
The hit to FPS is mainly due to the fact that each drop of spray drawn uses CPU cycles and like any intensive scenery objects FPS will be dragged down accordingly.

Gert,
hope it helps some.  In spot view I'll move the view up some to be above the water spray which helps a bit.

Hey Gert57,
Try turning down your "special effects" slider.   ;)
