Hi all

Looking Good Bernie. We'll always need good pilots around here.

Nice screenshot, Bernie.
But now two questions:
- Assuming you didn't cheat ;) , how did you manage to stop at precisely the correct "parking" position?
- Bearing in mind how close you are to the shore, how do you intend to fly out without a pushback cart - without cheating, of course? 8)
-
There's a paddle aboard for that purpose... ;D

Ok Dexthom
At the risk of being called stupid, I'll call your bluff ;)
Unless you have the A2A cub with Accusim which actually has a paddle, how would you simulate a paddle (provided you don't cheat with slew)?
-
I use the "pushback" feature of FSX to back up amphibs that can't "reverse" with the prop. Maybe not "realistic", but it gets me off the shoreline.
(If it has wheels, you can use pushback. Doesn't work on "floatplanes".)

I didn't know that Jeff. Very 8)

Hi Dave
You are quite right, a little cheating is required. I use two methods. My most popular one is to use the pushback shortcut, shift+p. Not all aircraft can use this feature. The Beaver Amphibian works fine, the Beaver floatplane does not so then you have to go to Plan B. This uses the slew command (Q) and then the arrow keys to move in the required direction. This, I think is the most realistic as you can simulate using the paddle. First you rotate the aircraft 180 degrees using your mooring ropes (in the real world) and then give a big push, hop in the aircraft and try and start the engine before the wind blows you off course. It is a lot easier in FS as you can actually start the engine without doing any damage to humans, your prop and the docks etc.
Cheers

P.S. I got a job. Had to fly a rich tourist to Streatham. I am taking him on the scenic route.
