Title: EZ- scenery objects
Post by: One-Eye on February 06, 2011, 02:01:43 AM
Does anyone else, like me, find that a LOT of the objects in those hundreds of offerings in the EZ pack are a waste of time?

There are so many which show as black objects (i.e. no textures). Many others are not compatible with FSX - i.e. the textures are flipped and many others are simply so old that they just look wayyy beyond the times.

And of course the objects are not even catalogued in any usable way.

Anyone fit and able enough to make a single object library? Or anyone know of better?

I know what you mean, it's a task in itself to find anything twice. A good solution though (at least in IS2) is to use the favourites section where you can in effect build you own library.

Thanks Avian for that suggestion.  I just recently bought IS2 and am getting familiar with it.

Errrm... EZScenery and Instant Scenery are two different programs if I'm not mistaken?

You are right Francois.  EZScenery is just a library of object (with textures).  Instant Scenery II is a program used to place those objects in flt sim.    :)

Actually EZ Scenery is a program for FS9 to place objects like Instant Scenery.  In fact unless my memory fails me the two progams have a common beginning IS became payware while EZ Scenery stayed in the freeware pile.  But the library objects live on.

IS2 doesn't come with a library of objects, but it can use any object library, for the sake of uniformity, access and to stay within the bounds imposed by various library owners, we use the freely available EZ scenery Library of Objects for RTMM sceneries. Brad is the main scenery man though and could probably expand on this a bit. I find places and make iffy airstrips.

Sho nuff ' honey chile.  In fact I did not even need to download the EZ Scenery Library for RTMM because I already had it in my FSX install.  For FS9 Joe DeGregorio of Texas International Airlines (VA) put together a compilation of thousands of scenery objects and had them on his site for download but the site is now defunct unfortunately.  The file was about 206,000KB in size.  I installed that in FS9, added scenery and textures from every library I could find to download and that allowed use within a composite library like this and wound up with a sh.. boatload of objects.  Nice thing is they work in FSX too so I just copied the master library from FS9 to FSX.  For scenery I say "Bring it on"!  I be ready.

Ahhhh...now I'm better informed!  Wish I knew how to tell what objects are ONLY from EZScenery so I don't use any that are not allowed.  Of course, if I don't share the scenery it wouldn't matter.   ::)
