Title: Fedex Depots
Post by: GrayRider on August 19, 2012, 11:52:57 PM
Whithin the past hour.I installed all the Fedex Depots,at the different locations, except for one of them.Which is the PAKT FEDEX Depot.Since I do have the payware ORBX PAKT installed,so I didn't install it,based on the readme info etc.

My first problem is with the Fedex Depot install for PAPG.Everything is there. The blue Fedex office building beside the Fedex hanger is black in color.I guess and it does look like the blue texture for the building is missing??.

My next question is dealing with the Fedex Depots static trucks I am missing.

The larger Fedex static Trucks parked behind the Fedex Depots buildings are missing at the following locations:
PASI/CBM5/CYPR/CYXT and PAWG.I'm just going by the screensot, where each of the Fedex Depots downloads are in Scenery's under (F).
The Large Fedex static trucks are the same size.My guess is I'm missing the Fedex Trucks objects library. So maybe I'm missing a vehicle static objects library.I have no idea why they don't show up.

I'm not worried about it.I just wanted the mention it,about the Fedx static trucks etc.

Check the readme a little closer for the FedEx trucks file that you need to download to see those box trucks. Look in the "Designer Notes" area to find that.

Black in color is either a missing texture or a duplicate texture somewhere I bet.

Brad, I've got a question. The file is called fdxtrksc.zip , correct?    If so, when you get "into" the folder, you get [Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator 9/Addon Scenery/New Airports/Scenery (and) Texture]. (Maybe I have the wrong file?)

But if this is the correct file, I wonder if we should go to work on that download, host it at RTMM and put a link to it from the Fed Ex Depot scenery downloads?  (Download Fed Ex Truck "Here"). For a newbie, that's a pretty confusing file ... Flight Sim 9?  then New Airports for a file of Fed Ex trucks?  I'm thinking we should make it [Fed Ex Trucks/Scenery (and) Texture] and tell them to put it where the object libraries are place.  I don't see credits for it, but we could make a little readme trying to offer credits and installation. We don't need another object library, but if we link it to any of the Fed Ex depot downloads, then folks would have it.

Brad

Here is a screenshot of PAPG where I'm showing a texture missing on the Fedex office building beside the Fedex hanger.I did unstall the PAPG Fedex addon.I re-installed it,and came up with the same result.
I have no idea where to start looking for the blue building texture that is missing.

I have all the current librarys installed. The object library's test addon.I checked it,and all 12 items are there as required.
All the rest of the Fedx addons are fine etc.

Doug.

The Fedex truck fdxtrksc.zip you mention is at flightsim.com for FS9.I don't know if this is the zip that is being used for the Fedex larger trucks. The RTMM Fedex downloads readmes don't say anything about downloading a Fedex Trucks static objects of any kind, that I can see.

So.I'll wait for more info about my concern/question about the missing larger Fedex static trucks.

Again.I'm not overly worried about it.It was just a mention to the authors of the 9 RTMM Fedex Depots downloads etc.

I did post a screenshot of my missing Fedex building texture as well at PAPG?.

I did get my missing larger Fedex trucks taken care of.I went back into the readme.I downloaded the perferred fedex truck package fedextks.zip.

All the larger trucks did show up at all the Fedex Depots as required.

I hope Brad has some ideas about the missing fedex depot office building texture, shown in the screenshot at PAPG.I wouldn't know where to start finding the texture problem etc.

I sent you a PM Grayrider. Basically, I think you need to make sure you have the RWY 12 object libraries installed in FSX. I also included a reference to an earlier thread on our forums that has similar content to this missing object.

Which by the way is this one:
Addon Scenery\Static Objects Libraries\scenery\add_dwag_hangers.BGL:

     {50a2e051-3943-46ea-8a3d-e3ff136e8b1e}

Static Libraries files are missing as per this thread in our forums.

I do have the RWY 12 Objects Library installed, that is here at the RTMM Objects downloads.I don't know if it has all the scenery/texture objects required.I also don't know if the RWY 12 in the RTMM downloads,is pack 1,2 or 3?.

You mention Addon Scenery\Static Objects Libraries\scenery\add_dwag_hangers.BGL:

In my Addon Scenery I don't have an entry called Static Objects,to even look for the missing .BGL.I do have one I called RTMM Objects Library where I have all the different RTMM required Object library's Folders installed.

Is there any way you could send me the missing .BGL for now. While I'm reading the info in the other thread, until I know what I'm doing etc.

Hi GrayRider,

If you have the RWY12 library installed it should contain 3 folders: Scenry, Texture & Model.  In the Scenery folder you would have this file:

add_dwag_hangers.BGL

Just check to see if you have it there....if not then you do not have a complete Rwy12 set and should reload from the link in the RTMM Object Libraries sections.  Just for reference, my RW12 folder set (scenery, texture, model)  includes 997 files and about 185 MB or so.

Pay no attention to the Static Object Libraries name as that is usually what someone calls a combined object library.  However, if you keep your object libraries separate like I do, then you should have a RWY12 folder where you can do the above checks.

I have the RW12 you are referring to,and it has the (scenery, texture, model folders). It does have 997 Files and is 185 MB.

I did go into the scenery folder The add_dwag_hangers.BGL is there. The date of that .BGL file is 2/13/2005 4:49AM Size is 402KB.
If the date on your file Rod is newer or older.I guess that texture add_dwag_hangers.BGL

could have been changed to a different one.I'm just guessing though

So.For now I guess I'm still at square one on the missing texture etc.

Here I am to throw a monkey wrench.  Yesterday I investigated this problem.  I went to PAPG and found that I too have a black FedEx office.  I used all the resources in my power (Instant Scenery 2) to determine the cause/solution to the problem.  The object is called "airmail_depot", and is in the file "ez_largehangers_ss_LIB.bgl".  That was in my "P:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\OZx\OZx_LIB\Scenery" folder.  The airmail_depot shows black in IS2, as well as two FBO buildings, namely fbo_1 and fbo_2.  The fbo_3 building shows with textures, as well as all the other objects in the bgl.  There is only one instance if the bgl file on my system.  Only those three objects appear black.  I was not able to determine the missing texture files, but may be able to, if I turn on debug mode in FSX.

Thanks Jeff.

At least I'm not the only one, that shows the Fedex building texture problem at PAPG,as shown in my screenshot. If Brad is the author of the Fedex Depots.I wonder if he see's the same texture problem etc.I'm sure it will get sorted out.I am in no hurry etc.

As I mentioned. All the other Fedex Depots are fine, with no problems.

Hi all,

I found this problem also, and, well, I wrote a nice little post on how sometimes textures just don't work etc. etc but then I thought of an issue from back a bit and tried the solution...and it worked.  So I deleted that unhelpful post and am posting a solution instead.

For some unknown reason, a few textures will not apply correctly (on some systems) even though all is installed correctly.   The solution for some of these obstinate textures is to copy them to the main FSX\Texutre folder.  In this case, the textures for the airmail_depot, fbo_1, fbo_2 and fb0_3 object are:

airmail depot.bmp, airmail depot_LM.bmp, FBO 1.bmp, FBO1_LM.bmp, FBO 2.bmp, FBO 2_LM.bmp, FBO 3.bmp and FBO 3_LM.bmp

Go into the EZ Scenery Libary Texture folder and copy the above .bmp files into your FSX\Texture folder and you should be set to go.

Worked for me!

I'm happy that the problem has been solved. Rod's the master on this stuff I swear.

However....What the..... That's interesting and kind of mysterious. Why wouldn't they just work. They're textures and the objects were there. And the textures were too right? So why didn't it work?

Thanks Rod and Jeff and Grayrider for helping us fix another glitch in the ever changing object universe from HELL!!

I also had the black textures on the building, but after performing the manipulation given by Rod, everything is back to normal  :)

Hi guys,

in my experience these missing textures happen when there are two object libraries that duplicate some but not all of the objects -- in this case the FedEx building or its texture seems to be missing from one of the libraries. The libraries are located in different active scenery library entries, FSX gets confused over which library to load, and it ends up picking the wrong one and not finding the texture.

Since in those cases FSX also will take a look in the global texture folder the work-around is indeed to place the corresponding textures in FSX\Texture. It's not the perfect solution because it means there are still those partially duplicated libraries somewhere, plus having non-default textures in \Texture makes servicing/reinstalling add-ons more difficult, and you've lost the ability to give different textures to the same model (if desired).

Cheers, Holger

Hi all,

After doing a bit more research based on Holger's comment, I can tell you this.  60% of the textures in the RWY12 Texture folder are also in the EZ Scenery Texture folder ...however there are just about zero duplication of scenery objects.   In other words, the same textures are used by the two object libraries but to make different scenery objects.

Technically, FSX shouldn't get confused in this scenerio but, as Holger said, and as we have experienced, it does once in awhile.  So far, the amount of times it gets confused seems very minimal and always with the same texture files.   I have just found a two year old posting that identifed the same texture confusion with the files we have just identified above.

Interestingly enough, for those of you that combine all your object libraries into one folder set with one Scenery file and one Texture file, you would not have this particular problem since you overwrite one texture with another.  That is probably why Brad & Spud don't have the problem.   However, this is a pretty rare anomaly with FSX and now that we know the symptom we can easily fix it by adding the texture to the FSX\Texture folder.

Again, personally, I don't recommend combining all your object libraries, but wanted everyone to know a bit more about the issue.  I may have to think about combining the RWY12 and EZ Scenery Libraries since there is 60% duplication of RWY12 Textures in the EZ Scenery Libraries.
