SCENERY IN WATER??
« on: December 20, 2011, 05:17:57 PM »
First of all I'd like to commend all the hard work everyone here at RTMM has put into this project, having a sweet tooth I can never get enough eye candy. Great work by eveyone involved. Now then my problem has nothing to do w you guys, but I have some scenery called  Hobo's house by Joe Watson that w/ Orbx's scenery is out in the inlet and try as I might I haven't been able to figure out how to move it back upon dry land  and I hope someone here can point me to some scenery design software to accomplish said task.  I think something just to move lat, longs but then I'm already talking over my head. thanks again and keep up the good work

Instant Scenery will allow you to "make" new scenery but as for moving existing scenery, that it will not do.  I'm no expert on this but relocating scenery is not a simple thing in the least.  The Hobo House was created with, I'm assuming, FSX Default scenery and the ORBX scenery relocates the shorelines to a more correct location and this has made the scenery in question sit in the water.

OK thanks for  help I'm still in the minors, maybe some day when I get to the show I'll take another look at scenery design, just thought if there was a quick fix I'd try it, but for now,  oh well

I am using Instant Scenery 2, and I can move/delete objects from other bgls.  I have the "PAUN" Unalakleet airport addon.  In the pictures, I moved the airport's windsock, (the red box in front of the plane.)  You'll need to learn your way around the IS2 program, but it does move objects, as I said.  (disclaimer- I don't promise it'll move those buildings out of the water.)  I have some buildings in the water at PAUN too, thanks to UTX Alaska.  I can't move those.  But since your buildings are not UTX, It should work for you.
I think Spud is right, in that Instant Scenery (1) can't do it, but IS "2" can.

Jeff,
I suspect that what is movable in a scenery is because that object was originally placed with Instant Scenery program and as such can be manipulated with the program.  I do not know for certain if this is the case so this is just a WAG.
If objects were placed with some other program I'll bet they will be immovable.  Only way to find out is to try it and see.

If all else fails use IS 2 to add a float dock and use it as a place to land and tie up your plane!
