ENHANCEMENT Problems with Maritime Traffic
« on: February 01, 2011, 05:40:18 PM »
Downloaded the file and installed it according to the instructions but do not see any of the ships.  I have 3 cruise ships (static) at Ketchikan no yacht, cutter or moving cruise ship.  As for the cruise ship in the Portland Canal I can not find that location to check for the ship.
.BGL files are in Scenery\World\scenery folder and I extracted the 5 ships to a temp folder and them copied them into Sim Objects\boats folder. Placed the two effects files into the Effects folder of FSX.
Results NADA, ZIP, NOTHING showing.  Any ideas what I have screwed up???

Did you try it in summer season?
My installation is like yours and I see them all as described.

Have you checked where the ships slider is set under the traffic settings?
You won't see any unless you set that right.

The maritime traffic is FSX traffic.  If there is any FS9 traffic files in the FSX/Scenery/World/Scenery folder, the FSX traffic will not operate.  Do you have Google Earth on your system?  The tracks are made with
Google Earth and I really don't know if it's required but that is a possibility.  If you don't have GE on
your system, get it!

I needed to remove any WOAI files to get mine to show up. But once I did, voila!

There is a freeware application,  AI Flight Planner, by Don Grovestine that converts FS9 traffic.bgl files to FSX format.  All my WOAI and MAIW flights have been converted and any new ones that come along, I install them to a temp folder and manually put them in the appropriate places.  I convert the bgl file to FSX format and you can set the path so it puts it in the Scenery/World/Scenery folder for you.  This is
a fine application, and the price is right.

My sliders are quite low as per ORBX but can not recall seeing any recommended for the Maritime Traffic add on.  Where should Ships and the Boats slider be set?
Oh yeah, today I flew the entire water way heading to Stewart started at 58 min. past the hour and saw nothing.
Next question, how do you determine if any of your traffic files are FS9?

Get the AI Flight Planner and you can have it find FS9 files.

I don't have a clue about this, what AI Flight Planner?  I do not add any AI A/C to my sim.  I know in FS9 I had quite a few add on scenery packages that added them but other than ORBX, Misty, Snow Dogs, and some from Bushpounder site I do not have any other add on stuff that would add AI.

Search Avsim for aifp_latest.zip with it you can check to see if you have any FS9 type bgl traffic files, these will prevent FSX bgl files from working properly.

I have the maritime traffic!  I increased ship/boat traffic and thar she blows!  Just for giggles does anybody know what the minimum settings that will show traffic are?  I know, I could just check it myself but when ever I go to setting, new airports etc. I get tired of the 3-5 min. reload time in FSX.

Indeed I can, but.. I think I'll refrain out of delight for your newly acquired ships! :)
