What scenery would you recomend to download first?
« on: August 20, 2011, 04:15:18 PM »
Hi All

newbie here, well I had MM for fs2004, great scenery. I now have FSX and have just found this site, great stuff. So my questions are:

1. Is there away of download loading ALL the scenery in one go?
2. If not, what would I start with

Clive,  There's no order, as far as I know.  But I'd start at the top and go down alphabetically.  Just a suggestion.  Or you could download one, then visit the area.  Then move to the next.  It's up to you.  There's no bulk uploader available.  Misty's Place is very nice.  You really should check that one out first.

Well I've spent the last 2hrs + downloading and installing into FSX. I started with 'dispatch 1' and worked myway through them. I will start to fly, hopefully in the morning; its 2330hrs here in the UK.

Going to rebuild the DB in 'Plan G' now and then FSC...phew!!

I trust that you had the various scenery for each 'stop' on the dispatches installed before flying the route.  Without the scenery installed first you will only see a 'lot of pretty places'.  The 'dispatches' are flights around the various RTMM scenery destinations.
I know it takes some time to do but just start on the home page and read, read, and read.  There is so much to see and do in a relatively small area it will take weeks to devour it all.
ATM I show 86 separate RTMM scenery packages in my FSX and that does not include the CIRP scenery being developed by Brad and Xavier.
Jeff made an excellent suggestion by starting at Misty's Place, it is home plate so to speak, where the "Adventure Begins".

Hi Spud
Yep, I've been starting at 'Mistys place' and have downloaded the scenery as per the dispatch list.
I've been downloading again this morning, so I am slowly getting there :-)

If you can help? I can't get 'mistys place' to appear in 'Plan -G'; I've rebulit the DB, many times, but no luck.

Have you gotten the Plan-G files from the map room?  Import the data to Plan-G, then rebuild the database.  Also, there should be a thread for this, as I had the same problem a while ago.

Just to remember, my Plan-G files do not contain those RTMM sceneries which come with their own AFCAD (==>i.e. all sceneries with PFxxx)
These ones will apear automatically after rebuilding FSX-database even with  fictive ICAO codes!!!

Dieter

I found it.  In "replies #35 and #36 of "working on the boats".  Click on the picture below, to make it larger and not blurry text. (or go to the thread)  Actually, open Plan-G and click on the "help" icon in the top-right corner.  That opens the Plan-G manual.  Go to page 18 of the manual and figure 16.  That should help.  ( I just pasted a picture of the page below.  If you make it full-size you can probably read it right here.  ;D)

Thanks again, Dieter. ;)

Hi Jeff

Firstly thansk for the help.

First thing I did was to 'add' the 'addon scenery folder'.....did not work. ThenI added the individual folders within the 'addon scenery folder'; ie I just added 'Misty's Place' scenery folder. this worked OK and PF20 appearred on the map.

So it looks like you have to add each folder that you want to appear within plan-G.
this is going to be a 'pain'..... right need a list of all PFxx airports within RTMM...does one exsist??....going to look

Regards

OK, I have now added ALL PF** folders manually to Plan-G and they all appear on Plan-G map.

What other scenery within the addon scenery folder does Plan-G not pick up??...Hmm need to ask the question with Tim on Plan-G forum I think

I never even noticed if all the others don't show up.  The only ones I've added are Misty's place, and RTMM airports.  This is what mine looks like . . .

Wow, all these months I've never noticed that all my PF airports aren't in Plan-G.  Well, I don't use Plan-G to get around usually.  That is why.  I just added PF28, PF30, and PF31.  I guess I have some work to do if I want to add them all.  Thanks Clive for the heads up on that.  You're right to have added all the PF locations.  To see a list of the PF airports installed into Plan-G, open the "Find Airport" window in Plan-G and type "PF".  It will bring up a list of all the airports that start with "PF".  As you can see, I am up to 5 of them.  I have a long way to go.

The list is here....phew!

http://return.mistymoorings.com/faq/index.php#i

This is an outdated list, and is NOT complete.  Also, there are a few I've never heard of.  (PF numbers 11, 13, 17, 18, 19, 22, and 29 on that list.)  They have names like Fiddler, Surf, Endako, Rainbow.  I've heard of Eagleskinner's, but couldn't find it on my computer.  PF17 doesn't appear to have a name, according to that list.  We are at least in the 40's, I think maybe PF41 is the last one I recall.  Now I need to dig in and find out which ones I still don't have added to Plan-G.  I now have all the ones between 1 and 31, except the ones in the above list.  It's starting to sound like this thread needs to be in the help section.

edit - Ok, I've added ALL the scenery folders related to MM, but only get up to 32. (and none of the ones missing from above)  Number 32 is Dean River.  Can someone else shed some light on this project?

I drew up a list of the PF## airstrips that I know of so far.
PF01    Khutzeymateen River
PF1I    Through Glacier Research Station
PF02    Nisga's Glacial Lake
PF03    Kitsault Gold Pan
PF04    Lavender Lake
PF05    Lucky Lindy's Place
PF06    Bowser Lake airstrip
PF07    Mount Light Retreat
PF08    Thorne Bay Island Retreat
PF09    Quall River Fishing Camp
PF10    Kowesas River Lodge
PF11
PF12    Little Oliver Creek
PF13
PF14    Kildala Pass
PF15    Nadina Mountain
PF16    Tweedsmuir Peak
PF17
PF18
PF19
PF20    Misty's Place
PF21    Misty's Seaplane Dock
PF22
PF23    Daredevil's Roost
PF24    Sewall airstrip
PF25    Wilson River Lodge
PF26    Jedway Seaplane Base
PF27    Telkwa Mountain Lodge airstrip
PF28    Chilcotin Plateau airfield
PF29
PF30    Victory Valley airstrip
PF31    Thumb Harbour Seabase
PF32    Dean River
If someone can fill in the blanks and add to the list, please do.  Thanks.
