Missions conversion FSX->P3D (file unavailable)
« on: January 14, 2019, 05:36:25 AM »
Hello,

I was reading the FAQ and under "Missions" found a link to the document, but it is dead. Can anyone, please, re-upload the document and update the link? This information is more than useful!

Doug, it's in FAQ in the main menu here, to the left from "Forums", then under "M" there is "Missions". At the very end there is a sub-header "MISSION CONVERSION FOR P3D by Canuck21a" and a link. The link leads to a non-existent file.

OK, I see it. I don't have that file on the system any more, must be something really old. So I took that out of the faq so it wouldn't confuse folks (like me!) :-).

Thank you for finding that for us.

Oh... Well, but then... How does one convert missions from FSX to P3D?

Ilya,

I too would like to be able to again create missions for use in P3D. They were pretty easy when it was just FSX.

Anyway's, here is a message thread we had about mission conversion in P3D and you might find something useful to start with here:

Thanks Brad.  I've just acquired a copy of it.  Playtime ...  :P

     Well, I was excited to get the program, but spent the rest of the day and night trying to get it to work.  No joy.  The program couldn't find my P3dv4 install initially, until I found settings for v4 in the "compatibility" settings for the projects.  I set that to 4 and the program started finding and reading airports and models, etc.  So I thought, Great!!  It's gonna work now.  But it doesn't finish, it crashes to desktop with no error messages at all.  It is a port over from FSX, and built by a former ACES member of MS.  The documents still refer to FSX, not P3d.  I couldn't find any more help than if I were dealing with MS.  So sad.  :'(

     I wanted to build missions again, but it's not happening with this program (yet).  I wish it would show the error or issue it has that causes the CTD, not just disappear.
     It cost me $28 to find out the program has issues.  I should have tried it before buying the thing.  I never do.   :P

Ugh!! Jeff that's not fun at all. I'm sorry to hear this. I too was hoping we could find a better way to generate fun missions again.
