looking for a good amphibian to replace my old Carenado 185
« on: October 18, 2018, 06:04:00 PM »
I'm leaning towards Milviz Turbo Otter

is this good for short lake ops or should I be looking elsewhere?

Thanks.

I recommend the Cessna T-206 Soloy Mark 2, download at SOH

A very excellent freeware!

My choices would be either Milviz Beaver or Aerosoft Twin Otter.

DHC2 Beaver or DHC3 Otter are nice replacements but a bit different than the C185.  Did your c185 finally give up the ghost? For the most part, the c185 does work in P3Dv4 and is still one of the best bush aircraft out there.

Ah ok..  You just want the latest and greatest "Shiny and New" Amphibian..lol. Well lots out there.. including freeware IE: previously mentioned two updated FlightPort Cessna 206s that work in FSX through P3Dv4.3:

FlightPort Cessna U206G Soloy Mark 1 FSX & P3D Version 4.0
and
Cessna T206H Soloy Turbine Pac Mark 2 FSX & P3D Version 1.0

https://www.rikoooo.com/downloads/viewdownload/57/886
https://www.rikoooo.com/downloads/viewdownload/57/885

But you can find these (and piles of other aircraft) at most freeware sites: Simouthouse, Simvation, AVSIM, FlightSim.com etc that work great in P3D (as well as FSX)

Pays:
Well MV-DHC2, MV-DHC3, MV-DHC3 Turbine, (Justflight also has a DHC3-Otter),
that work in P3Dv4x.

Carenado have updated almost all of their aircraft now for P3Dv4x.  (But not too many that are float/Amph versions and turbine).

Pick what you want to try and search from various creators to see what might best for you for the $$.

Here is a list that might help: (Seaplanes and Amphibious aircraft lists by County):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_seaplanes_and_amphibious_aircraft
*Use the listing of aircraft for Canada or United States which cover just about all you might ever need).

A successful use of the Cessna Soloy 306 requires to read the manual (RTFM) carefully.
This will avoid problems (and follow-up problems) especially for engine start-up phase.
Many greetings
