With P3Dv2, I don't have a Client, Content and Scenery as with P3Dv4 in addition to P3Dv4 Academic... just the P3Dv2 Academic... I don't know if I can make "repaired" with the latter.
Hmmm.. might also be a bathymetry feature so maybe 1st thing is to 1) turn bathermetry off and give it a check.
Also not sure if you can do a repair, but try that next. 2) (Via Control Panel > Programs/Features) and only do the content if there is one as Content contains all of those content aspect including the aircraft and all of their features which would include the effects)
Barring that: 3) Might want to delete your shader cache (P3D will rebuild new shaders on restart)

If the new shaders no work to get your effects going might want to 4) delete your Prepar3d.cfg (P3D will rebuilt a new default prepar3d.cfg file (Which you can re-tweak) cause you may have a corrupt Prepar3d.cfg file driving your effects graphics issue.

Like looking for a needle in the hay stack especially in P3D 2.4 (which is not common these days) but trying Handie!.
