Beaver Repaint Chris Brisland, 2
« on: January 27, 2018, 02:51:23 PM »
Hi all,

I really like his repaints and like to fly with them. That's why I wanted to learn to take off and land with the SKI version. So, I downloaded the SKI/WHEEL-dirty model.

But now: there is no texture.cfg in this SKI/WHEEL-dirty model! Actualy, the whole download is different!

I have checked all other models, texture.cfg is present in the other models.

Am I missing something?
Can someone deliver the missing texture.cfg ?? Or better the whole download ??

Thank You,
Laagvlieger

Repaint DHC2 dirty ski/wheel:

Am I  really the first one who downloaded this aircraft and has found that the download is not good?

Sincerely,

Hi Eric,
Sorry for the delay.  I've had other things going on in real life.  I don't use the ski version myself, but it is installed on my system.
The texture.cfg file can be copied from another texture folder and placed in the ski folder.  Actually, copy ALL files from the contents of one of the original ski beaver textures into the N003MM_Ski folder.  Do not overwrite the 5 files that are in there from the zip file.  They are the "dirty beaver" parts.
To add it to your fleet, copy the entry from one of the other ski models in the aircraft.cfg and edit the texture name entry and the aircraft name to be unique/specific to the dirty ski beaver.   ... or copy this:

description=This Misty Moorings Dirty version of the DHC-2 Beaver is a purely fictional repaint to go with the Misty Moorings idea. The DHC2 was manufactured by de Havilland Aircraft of Canada, Ltd. from 1948 to 1969. The MKI is the mostly spread version witha 450 SHP Pratt & Whitney R985. Alternatively a MKII was developed with 550 SHP Alvis Leonides 502/4 engine. Later the less common PT6A6 turboprop powerd Beaver was built between 1964 to 1969. In total almost 1700 planes were built and many of them are beautifully restored and service for tourist flights, transportation and fun all around the world.

Hello Jeff,

Until now: so sad....

I used your Aircraft.cfg. OK.
Then:

1) In a new N003MM_Ski folder I copied the 5 files from the just downloaded "dirty" texture.cfg into this folder. OK
2) I copied ALL the files from the "clean" N002MM folder and copied into the new N003MM_Ski folder WITHOUT overwriting the 5 files allready there.

I did also:

1) I copied ALL files from the "clean" N002MM_Ski folder into the new N003MM_Ski folder.
2) I copied the 5 files from the downloaded "dirty" texture.cfg into N003MM_Ski folder, overwriting the files allready there.
Wich is  actually the same..

I start FS, Fs  thinks, thinks, thinks and just disappears. No crash but just disappering... It stops beïng there...

Somewhere in the texture.cfg must go wrong...

Sincerely,
Laagvlieger

Hi Eric,
Did you increment the flightsim.# by one in YOUR aircraft.cfg?  (... or does it happen to be #3 for you too?)  The texture.cfg file tells the sim where to find the INTERIOR textures for the cockpit.  Notice all are deactivated except one interior and one pilot.  This is how you select your interior color and pilot nationality.  It looks like this inside ...

Hi Jeff,

Dirty DHC2 Beaver flys! ::)

Indeed I did increment it to #3. OK.

Inside the texture.cfg I  disabled "I do not know anymore" and activated "mistydirty".
"mistydirty" excist in the map Standard Wheels interior.

But then one of the 5 files in the "dirty" download is incorrect!!!!
It is the file "DHC_2_T.dds" wich is false!
I copied this file from the clean one and VOILÁ.

If there is any interest for a working install document voor the Dirty DHC2 repaint for RTTM, let  me know and where I can put this.

Cincerely yours,
Laagvlieger

Hello Jeff,

The body is ok, that is: dirty but the wings are too new!!

Any idea?

I'm looking where I can find older wings...

Hi Eric,
Here is a look at my "dirty girl", smelly pits and all.  ;)

I get the feeling I've been down this road before.  I found this texture.N003MM_Ski.zip file in my dropbox, but don't remember the story.  I think I already "fixed" the wings before??  ???  Anyway, try these textures ...  ;)

My Dirty Beaver ...

Smell my Pits ...

"Just a Workin' Gal" ...

Smells a little like fish near the back door ...

Looks like my car's level of cleanliness.  ;D

Hereby I declare that a brandnew old and used RTTM DHC2 Ski/Wheel Beaver is flying around Misty Fjords in Holland!!

Of course yesterday I told you that I took some wings from a clean bird, so I got clean wings!
Now I just took wings from another dirty Beaver from Chris Brisland and thats it! Less then 10 seconds.

In my very first posting I asked if it is possible to make a good working download for the dirty DHC2 ski/wheels repaint from Chris Brisland.

Now I  can offer this to RTTM.

If you are interested I can send you the whole working download and after testing it you can send it to Doug so he can put it on the download site. Is that the way it should go?
