Hey there Brad. Thanks for all your hard work on this. It has been a busy time for you and you still managed to get this "pipes" section done. A great project. Thank-you.

To you and yours and to all of the "RTMM guys" thank-you for your efforts and hardwork. Have a great New Years Eve and all the best going forward into 2018.

Norm

OK, headed east out of Fairbanks, I have a pipeline, but don't seem to have the gravel road next to it. How far out of Fairbanks do I need to be to see the gravel road ?

Hmm, going the wrong direction, turning around... OOPS!

Yeah, found the road, once I got going the right direction. It weaves around near the pipeline all the way north. This is out by Cursed Hills.

Just so everyone knows, there isn’t any dedicated road that runs alongside the pipeline like there was in the SAK edition. The dirt road by the pipeline in SAK is the graphical representation of the pipeline that ORBX designed into their terrain textures. What I did was run our pipeline objects next to that and that became our pipeline service road.

From Gulkana all the way to Deadhorse what you’re seeing near the pipeline is the actual “Haul Road”. The Richardson Highway and the Dalton Highway were created to help build and service the real Pipeline. But I don’t always follow along their route and deviate into nearby valleys or along open flatlands if possible.

There won’t be a close companion service road like SAK had anymore.

I found that the road, and the pipe were both following a drunken snake on their way north. If there was a logic to the routing it was beyond me.  But, hey, I'm sure the real thing does the same.  I had a friend who worked as a welder on the pipeline, and that's what he said too.

My buddy the welder said they were all sure the engineers had their reasons, but down in the mud; it was following a drunken snake...   They just followed the plans, where ever they went. He made a hell of a lot of money on that job, said it was the best hourly he'd ever been paid. He also said there were times they froze their butts off.
