AI files safe for V4?
« on: November 23, 2017, 03:41:48 AM »
BWEP, and I noticed on Egg Harbor also have AI traffic files. Are these safe for V4 yet? I have heard conflicting things regarding this. I had issues with the AI included with TFX I had to find the fix for. Lastly, one instruction says to put the BGL in the FSX scenery world scenery and another scenery said to put bgl into the addon folder. I have P3D V4 so my FSADDON would be the right folder?

The TFX issues were the models in the SimObjects addons that came with TFX.   If you are not adding new folders that go in the SimObjects folder then you probably won't have a problem.  Traffic files by themselves are not normally an issue since the simply instruct the existing SimObjects models when to fly.   Scenery\Word\Scenery is an okay place to put them if the scenery instructs to put them there.

FSAddon folder should only be for auto installed products from FSAddon like TFX.

Just installed some AI and have issues with a cruise ship running through the channel at Ketchikan with streams of light or water going 100s of feet high. Not sure what happened here. I have TFX, All the ORBX stuff including Ketchikan. I installed traffic misty trawling, norweigian sun glacier track, tongass narrows float, ai float traffic V 1.3, misty commericial 1 and 2 and the Ketchikan fix. Misty garbage scow, misty log barge

P3D stops responding when I get close to the ship, I tried mistys place and it stops responding a few hundred feet up.

That is the "vertical wake" issue.  There is a fix for that too.  Simply use the search function and type in Vertical wake, and a variety of threads will present themselves.  All about vertical wakes.   ;)

I only get a link to global AI boats which I installed and added a bunch of cool freighter traffic with good wakes but did ntofix my mega yacht or coast guard cutters. I believe there are effects textures or bgls for the coast guard cutter that the mega yacht and maybe a few others use that is the culprit and I can not find a updated file. MY CTD issue initially was the AI otter went back to normal so I edited the texture files and prop texture with model changed to normal=otter whatever FSX and now I start but stil CTD close to any of these vertical wakes. ANyone have the updated wake files for the coast guard cutter?

(Vertical wakes do not cause CTD.. but are very intrusive).

Link:  see the other wake post.

Vertical wakes are not normally a cause for CTD.  Something else is doing that. The fixes are already provided.  You don't need to reinvent the wheel here.  Just get the TFX AI fix and wake fix and apply them.  You may need to do it more than once if you install something that overwrites the fixes.   ;)
