Amphibian - ideally freeware
« on: September 04, 2017, 08:50:24 AM »
I started using P3Dv4 shortly after release and have had a very positive experience so far.

Fortunately I have been able to move the default FSX Beaver to P3Dv4 but this model lacks a amphibian version which is pretty much key to exploring MM.

So I am on the lookout for a Amphibian Bush aircraft (ideally freeware) and hope you guys might have some recommendations?

I certainly would discount any payware suggestions but have never been much of a fan of "complicated" aircraft..some would say I am a "CTRL+E" kinda guys...

Have you searched flyaway simulations or other such freeware download sites?  ???   ;)

(or you could add wheels to your floater, although invisible they work.)  I did this to my Otter.  ;)
... I also added floats, pontoons, and water rudders to my Ultralite trike.  It's now amphibious!   8)  But that's another story.  :P

I have had a look around the usual sites.  Nothing of real quality really stands out along with a .  There is some PAD stuff and something called a "Wilga" along with a raft of repaints for commercial products.

The Wilga is downloading right now and offer several model types.

I did look at the Virtualcol DHC3 Beaver which is very cheap and based on the screenshot looks OK.  I have experience of other VC products and are quite easy to get to grips with.

Somewhere in the back of my hangar I have got the Carenado C185 (Bushwagon) which might be worth installing into FSX and then copying over to P3D to see how it performs.

...a amphibious trike...  8)

Oh yeah!  It is great fun, with an overpowered engine and the sounds to match.  It's made for scenery testing, really.  But it gets me around very well.  ;)   I also have a submersible version for exploring the ocean depths.  8)

Hope the submersible version comes with a snorkel!

AS Beaver has several amphibian versions.
You might modify one of them in same way as you did with the "Aerosoft Beaver Standard Wheels" version.
Many greetings

Thanks for the links.

Both aircraft look fantastic and just what I am looking for.

The Mon Bi...well it certainly is unique!

Both are downloading now and will be in my hangar later today.

Yes...that Mono is something very special!  I had only a brief look at it before the call came in to collect some tourist from Wilsons View Cabin...duty calls.

I did manage a short flight in the Cessna U 206 G Soloy Mark 1.  What a incredible aircraft and importantly superb freeware.  It did seem to lack a little power but once you get use to that you fly it accordingly.

C180 downloading right now...
