New ORBX Library 110315 ready for download
« on: March 15, 2011, 08:21:35 AM »
ORBX has released a new scenery objects library today.  Remember to switch your FTX Central to North America before you install the new library.  In addition if you install any ORBX airports in their North American Scenery (PNW, PJ or NRM) re-install the new library after the airport installation.

Here be the link:

Doug,
while any new objects in the library update may not yet be incorporated in RTMM some may be used in the future.  In addition you have ORBX Pacific Fjords installed to establish a scenery base for RTMM and the new library should be installed due to having this software if nothing else.

Even when a PFJ Service Pack is released it would still require the new Scenery Object Library; they cover separate things in ORBX payware.

RE: PFJ patch
Only the staff at ORBX and they do not give release dates in advance due to the changing conditions with programming etc.  The ORBX mantra has always been: "It will be released when its ready."  I do know that it was delayed as Holger Sandmann (head programmer) lost his mother about a week ago.

Just to clarify. Like Spud was saying, whenever ORBX issues an update to their library of objects, all of us with a working copy of PFJ need to get the latest updated library of objects from ORBX and install it. This keeps all of their stuff up to date, adds new things, etc.

The upcoming PFJ patch is a separate patch just for the scenery addon of PFJ. The new objects we updated will now be ready to work inside the newly patched PFJ addon scenery.

Mark and Ken's objects are not a part the ORBX library. They are a part of the OZx libraries.

Too many "O"'s, and "X"'s right?

Thank you Spud and Brad for the information.
I really do understand the delay. This is a hard time for Holger Sandmann.

If I'm understanding this right, when I finally install, say, PNW plus Orcas Island and Stark's Twin Oaks, only then do I install the libraries? And if I later add, say, Israel's Farm, I must then reinstall the libraries?

The general rule is that whenever you install any Orbx scenery, or any of their scenery updates or patches, the last thing you do is install their latest libraries.

Sometimes their latest scenery may include the latest libraries update but if you stick to the above rule you can't go wrong.

The ORBX libraries are different entities than the OZX libraries?

Yes. Separate companies but joined at the hip.
JV started ORBx for the payware and OZx to collect a bunch of outside developers in a community - freeware set of projects. That's why you see OZx delivering a lot of new airfields (300+ freeware airfields for ORBx/FTX sceneries so far), plus aircraft, paints, and their own set of support libraries).

As per ORBx sceneries/airports, if you buy one check the install to see what library version they contain. If they are an older, non-updated copy, you need to install this ORBx library release last.
