Flight1GTN 750
« on: August 08, 2017, 03:53:48 PM »
Hi All
Anyone tried this latest item in RTMM
Bought it in a mad moment!-is it overkill?
Seemed to install seamlessly
Using the A2A Cessna 182(accepts GTN750 into aircraft panel) in P3Dv4 - made my first flight from CDYL to Boya Lake Cabin
Had to create the flight plan from scratch and create all the waypoints (using Lat/Lon from RTMM supplied PLN file)
(Imported flight plans would need to be in in gtf format)
It was all rather a long winded process but I am only at the start and there is a lot to learn!

I used it in FSX and in P3dv3.4 for a long time and I love it. I have both, the 750 and the 650.

I haven't installed the new complete edition to P3dv4 yet. I think I will do this at the end of the week.
The new complete edition is P3dv4 compatible and includes both devices, 750 and 650, now.

Hi corbu1
I am not alone!
Putting PLN Flight Plans supplied by RTMM and others directly into P3D and then flying them via a simple GPS is such a simple procedure-gets you flying quickly
Printing out the PLN flight plan ,then getting the Lat/Lon and creating waypoints ,then entering them into the GTN 750 and recreating the flight plan is my current procedure-laborious but the way it is done in real life?
Quite satisfying actually!
Heard of some programmes like Little Nav etc allowing creation of a flight plan in GFP format which then allows direct importation of aforementioned flight plan straight into  into the GTN 750
Would RTMM ever consider Flight Plans in GFP format as well as VPN
They do do so much for us simmers already -maybe a step too far!

Since you seem to be on top of the game it sounds like something that you might be able contribute for the better good of the RTMM community. Let's see if other users express enough interest in your work, and if so, go for it.

Hi All
One slight drawback emerging which may be a no no for RTMM fliers
TAWS or Terrain Warning is a feature of this product.
It cannot be switched off for good reason but is a real pain in low level flying
It would be interesting to know what GPS system Bush Pilots prefer as this product may be too intrusive soundwise for day to day use

One od the reasons I dumped it. Too intrusive, too labor intensive. I have no intentions of upgrading.

Hi Penzoil3
Beginning to agree -Bush flying is not "safe" flying!

Hi All
More info as I learn more about this new avionics package with the aim of combining Bush-low level-flying -with the latest avionics
There is a TAWS inhibit button!!!
On the Terrain map hit Menu and there it is!
Did a high level -safe-flight from Victory Valley to Tezwa River Ranch -TAWS on
Low level -unsafe?-return flight with TAWS inhibited/off .Sink rate warnings still active.
Now a happy bunny .
RTMM fights resumed

Yes, always use the TAWS inhibit button!!
That's always the first procedure I do when running the device in the sim. :)

I have now installed it in P3dv4 and it works very good for me.
I have in the Milviz Huey Redux and the Cerasim UH60L Blackhawk. Both in virtual cockpit.

This way I can use the GTN with my HTC Vive in VR....

Hi corbu1
Yup-now installed GTN750 in my A2a light planes172,182,,Cammanche and Cherokee plus MilvizBeaver ,C310R and RealAir Legacy-in P3Dv4
Reflying my old favourite RTMM routes but creating the flight plan myself this time-great fun and another realistic step in flight simming for me
PS in P3Dv3.4 you also get Radar as well in the Milviz planes(and Helicopters-MD530F).
Great extra for bush flying on a wet and cloudy day!

Absolutely love the GTN units. Using 'Little Nav Map' you can export any created flight plans in the Garmin format to be used in the 750 and 650. Even without 'Little Nav Map' creating flight plans outside of FSX/P3D using the stand alone trainer is a breeze, especially with the ability to create temporary user way-points with a single click of the mouse on the touch screen. This is handy for getting you out of tight canyons in low visibility conditions when a dirt strip has *ZERO* departure procedures available. TAWS inhibit is in my checklist flow, once it's turned off it's no more a problem.

Is *certain areas* the darn Sirius XM weather radar displays show up, and in REAL TIME. They are amazing. :)
