Well, I will explain but this is no general solution, it's just for my installation:
(Experienced) P3D users know that from version 3.3 on it is possible to install addons like sceneries or airplanes in a folder outside the P3D root/main folder.
So I did for selected software.
(Btw, some installers don't allow this!)
Software like RTMM or Global Ship traffic/Henrik Nielsen don't have installers. Installation has to be done manually.
I used this method because of the
very many effect-, sound-, and traffic files to have a better overview and to avoid to copy them into the according root folders.
For RTMM software I linked the sound and effects "outside folders" in
\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
- sound.cfg
[Entry.2]
Title=RTMM Scenery Sound
Path=D:\Addon Scenery\Return To Misty Moorings\Sound
Required=True
Active=True
- effects.cfg
[Entry.3]
Title=RTMM Scenery Effects
Path=D:\Addon Scenery\Return To Misty Moorings\Effects
Required=True
Active=True
==> This was my problem: instead of \Return To Misty Moorings\ I had \Return To Mist
yMoorings\. So the effects were inactive.
Here you'll find a very recommendable freeware tool for P3Dv4 for organizing addons, sceneries and much more (updated permanently):
