Big Creek Lodge

COMING SOON .... Big Creek Lodge

Once in a while, you come across a geographical area that is absolutely unique, and if you squint your eyes a little, you can picture a beautiful location for an RTMM scenery addition.  I was flying just outside PNW (3 miles) and came across such a location.  Normally, we are going to stay inside the "bounds" of RTMM, but this one is "close-enough" to count ... so it is under construction.

There is a nearby "real" lodge (Tsuniah Lake Lodge CAF4) that I'll be putting in that has its own [rather undeveloped] airstrip and that will be the starting point to get to the new Big Creek Lodge Complex. Big Creek Lodge is nearly finished, the work now is on the Tsuniah Lake Lodge and airstrip.

Here are the features being built into this one:
1. A 3-lodge Complex
2. A full connecting road system
3. Asphalt runway with turn-arounds on each end
4. night approach lighting for runway
5. pullout for amphibians
6. taxiway to terminal for amphibians
7. blue lighted taxiways
8. Blinking night lighting for water operations (landing zone and taxiways)
9. Rotating beacon
10. 2 Windsocks
11. Fuel
12. street lights for complex at night

Here is a screenshot of the work in progress ...

Asphalt? What's that :P ;D I assume that you need Global & Vector for this location? Looks pretty nice! Did you use roads for the strip and turnaround?

No used the SBuilderX "line" function and selected the 4 lane "asphalt" texture. Works pretty well.

Okay. You can choose that option in ADE under roads.

Ryan,
You could also lay down those 4 lane asphalt roads in ADE or Instant Scenery if you wanted to.

EDIT:
Looks like you beat me to it regarding ADE.

CBA7 to CAF4 or CAG3 has always been one of my favorite flights. And RWY 22 at CAF4 is a bit tricky especiallly in winter.
Make sure you give them a nice spot in yr Big Creek project, Doug.
Cheers.

Norm...I'm going after all of those in the area. The strips are there but nothing else, perfect to fix up.

OK, Big Creek Lodge is now "posted" for everyone to enjoy. You'll see the announcement in the NOTAMS. Along with it, be sure to download "Silt Lake Cabin" ...one of the first places to "fly to" from Big Creek Lodge. We will be making more small locations in this beautiful area.

This one was a bit tricky. It is at about 4300 feet altitude. When using IS3 for object placement, if you don't have something that rests on the ground, (elevating or de-elevating it), it shifts position when IS3 is "off". For instance, I usually put a fuel pump on a float plane dock. If I do that with this one, the pump is about 3 feet away, in the air from the dock.  So you'll see, I've put the float plane fuel depot ON THE GROUND to the left of the amphib pullout. Not the way we usually do things, but necessary.  I had a rotating beacon that looked great (using xml), except if you looked closely, the turning beacon was about 4 feet to the right of the tower it should be attached to. So no rotating beacon.

This complex will make a good "base" for this beautiful area that we are now exploring. You can get to this area from Vancouver, but it is a 90 mile flight. So we needed something more resident to this area for the shorter bush-type flights.  There are a couple of airstrips about 35 miles away, both are relatively undeveloped in ORBX PNW. I'll probably look at fixing those up a little. One is a lodge (that isn't there). So lots of "fun" things to do in this new area.  I apologize for PF61 being "outside" the ORBX PNW area (3 miles), but when you see the unique geography, you'll see why I chose this location for our hub in that area.

As an adjunct to Big Creek Lodge, I created Silt Lake Cabin to give us our first place to "fly to" from PF61. With the creating of PF61, we can start flights there now with the flight planner.

A special thanks to Norm Richards for looking over my shoulder on this one. Spud's computer is acting up so we didn't have his sharp eye for QC on these two ... but Norm and I did our best. We hope you enjoy the new locations.

PS Norm: the second windsock is on the point to the right as you leave the amphib pullout ... this for the floats that might not get up to the airstrip complex.

Doug,
Is the "wandering" fuel pump a stock object or from one of our converted FSXP3D libraries?

So lots of "fun" things to do in this new area.

Indeed, the PNW area is the most undeveloped 'RTMM' areas if compared to the rest... I'd love to see more action in and around warmer PNW latitudes in the coming season. :)

Steve ours. The decks move too. No biggie, if you keep things on the ground, it works fine.
