Bush Planes...in Ohio?
« on: April 08, 2017, 08:04:19 PM »
Who'd a thunk. But yep, here's proof. A fly-in of some sort it appears. Some cool-looking planes. That marina you see about 4 minutes in is where Stiletto and Ualani dock their yachts. No, really. Just a short shuttle ride to the airfield after a lunch of lobster bisque and champagne at the clubhouse. Yeah, right. Here's the link.

Thanks.  Another great video.  That area looks interesting to fly in.  Very nice terrain.   :)

Hi jsapair,

Fun video.  That marina is a bit too far for easy access to the yacht.  The island airport was Put-In-Bay (3W2) about 90 miles from here.  It can only be reached by boat or plane.  Of course, the peninsula of thrill rides you saw when they departed 3W2 was the 2nd oldest continuously operating amusement park in the US, Cedar Point.

New Philadelphia, Ohio is a town of 20,000 out in the country about 60 miles south of here.  I have never been there.

In the mid '70's I flew into the Put-In-Bay strip to go ice fishing on Lake Erie with my dad. There was a small local air carrier called "Island Airlines" that operated and flew the last Ford Tri-Motor still in service at the time.
