Ok.  Good luck with the repair.   ;)   A repair should fix it.  Let's hope so.  Did you go through the links Steve posted about FSX CTD?  ???

Did you try the logbook repair that I suggested?

John,
remember that a repair will delete all the ORBX FTX Global Base textures and replace them with the FSX Default texture.  You will need to re-install FTX Global Base after the repair.
One more thing if you have Acceleration installed that needs to be de-installed before the repair and re-installed afterwards.
Nothing is simple with M$!
Later,

Spud

Have you tried to run fsx, with the pc in safe mode.
also have you reseated your ram [ unlikely but possible ].
install and run ccleaner to clean the registry. Take back up of registry

Glad you got that fixed. It's great when a problem is fixed.

can you get a edge connector cleaning pad from your local computer shop and double clean and re-seat the memory chips. Not sure if windows 7 has  memory check tool but you could try that it may show a problem. if you are still having problems then swap around your memory chips and see if the problem changes. you could also clean and re-seat your graphics card.

If possible can you borrow a couple of memory chips and substitute.

check the hard disk for errors

Edge connector cleaning pad?  I've always used the eraser from a No.2 pencil.   ;)

I would think that if he is having a memory chip issue it would affect a lot more things than just FSX and would crash all kinds of other programs. Generally a faulty memory chip will cause a BSOD.
