BWEP Repaints
« on: January 21, 2017, 10:00:15 PM »
Like Yogi said, 'This is like deja-vu all over again.' Klaus' repaint for the C185 payware...amphibian in this case. I paste in the texture folder, (texture.NC185MM) add the .jpg to it, and modify the .cfg. Plane shows up in Select AC.

But when I select it, it shows the default c185. FWIW, the .jpg for the default payware C185 is titled thumbnail0.jpg and is in the root folder for the C185. I put the enclosed .jpg for the repaint in the new texture.NC185MM folder.

So, just for grins, I put Klaus' thumbnail.jpg in the root folder of the C185 Amphibian. Same thing. Goes to the default AC.

Any ideas?

Hello jsapair,
I checked my C185 in FSX and all repaints are shown as it should.

the jpg-files for the BWEP C185`s can go into the root Folder of the Carenado C185.

Did you copy and paste the complete aircraft.cfg entries for the different BWEP C185 variants into the aircraft.cfg`s of your sim?

Example for the amphibian BWEP C185 - copy and paste this to your Carenado C185 amphibian aircraft.cfg:
[fltsim.x] //note: for x add the next highest number in your aircraft.cfg

Hi Corbu1. Yeah, the .cfg looks like it should. I've been installing repaints for years. However, doing a forums search, I had this exact same problem with this same AC back in July, 2014, when the Misty's texture first came out. It's not just the amphibian, either. The two versions of the BWEP Floats appear in Select Aircraft as well, but when I click on them it takes me to the default float planes, just like the Amphibian does.

Doing some research points me to a corrupt thumbnail problem, somewhere. I'm going to try a program called Autothumbnails and see if I can get this straightened out. The Aerosoft Beaver repaints work just fine...just the C185 is the problem child.

If I get it fixed I'll re-post.

Well, as said it works for me as it should. It tried all BWEP variants again...all was good and the paints appeared as they should.

Does anybody else have this problem?

BWEP paints for C185 in and working as intended - all variants. And each of the thumbs match the correct variants.

Sounds likes either the texture folder/files didn't copy over correctly. And btw, you can't have the sim running with the C185 when you do the livery for that airplane cause although it doesn't tell you, some of the files are in use and will not be modified.

Give it another shot just to make sure.. with sim off. edit the aircraft.cfg with the next required piece and copy the correct texture folders/files over to the correct aircraft variant then restart the sim and see if your C185 has the correct BWEP variants. (If not, confirm your sim (air file name) just in case)
Norm.

Thanks, Norm. You may be onto something. I'm definitely guilty of installing planes with the sim running. And, come to think of it, the C185 is my default AC, so yeah, some files would be in use with the sim running.  Seems to me that I went thru this with the Misty's texture years ago...but I've slept since then. Off to Tinkersville.

Wound up deleting the entire C185 package and reinstalling. Added the Misty's texture first and STILL had problems. But, after switching back and forth a few times it finally caught. Added BWEP. Switched back and forth a few times and it finally caught as well. Added the Tweto Era Alaska C185 and now all seems to be well. It's a computer. Go figure.
