Yesterday, my dad and I went flying. Someone mentioned updates/pictures sometimes when I go flying on the real world, so here they are.
There is our airplane. It's a 1996 Maule M-7-235B. This was are first flight after we took it off of floats. You can see the floats (Baumann 2750's) We haven't flown in almost a month and a half, but the airplane is owned in a partnership, so it gets flown pretty often.
About the airplane: After the Maule factory built the plane, it was sold to the state of Alaska fish and game (I think. It might have been some other division) They flew it for a while, but it was too big (they usually use Cubs) They then sold it to one of the people in our partnership. He is a FedEx pilot, so he did not fly it very much at all, only 20 hours on 10 years. (It as sat so long that we have to shake it hard to get it out of it's tie down.) My dad and his friend were able to buy 2/3 of the airplane.
About the airplanes
itself: It was blt in 1996, and is a M7 model. The difference from the one on FSX is that it has a lower horsepower-generating IO-540, energy 235 horsepower instead of 260hp. Also, it has oleo landing gear (B model), which absorbs more energy than the spring gear (C model)
Sorry about the fingers there.
Flying out over the inlet.
Up here in Alaska, the sun sets at around 4:30, so we are just going to be doing a quick flight to Wasilla and back.
Approaching Wasilla
landing at Wasilla. Dad hasn't flown in a little while, so the landing was a little bouncy
Looks like an albatross down there
On our way back
Airport off in the distance
Here is the worst part about flying in the winter. It's Cold! We have to put all of the airplanes covers and stuff on and off every time we fly. I think we actually spent more time setting up to fly and putting the plane away then we did flying!
It was a fun flight, especially since we haven't flown in a while. I hope you enjoyed the pictures!
