Well, sorry to mess youall about, but there is a little more to this story today, and I will tell of it here as it may help someone that runs into this problem other than me.
I really thought  that the culprit was the V3.1 wake file that I ran in error, but it was not.
Simply because I really love to see the ships in  RTMM, I decided to re run the install, being extra careful, and using the correct files, and the system failed again, and system restore did not fix it, leaving no option other than going thru the removal process one more time, using the document of Doug's. (I hope you don't mind Doug? but I had copied it yesterday fortunately, because I could not find it today on Misty's)  It  is attached to this post.. It may well be that this is down to my system, but if it is not, and someone else runs into the problem, the fix is attached..Teecee.
