2 questions
« on: September 28, 2016, 04:36:06 PM »
1. I have the Orbx sceneries installed as attached. I see that they have now completed Open LC North America. Do I have to buy anything extra? Do I get an update or do I need to do anything else?
2. I was thinking about buying UTX Canada Version 2. Does this add anything to what I already have in ORBX and/or are these 2 scenery types not conflicting with each other?
Thanks for yr help.
Marcel

Are you sure you have a complete "openLC North America" installed?
Your FTXCentral is still showing "openLC NA Alaska/Canada" (only).

Yes, it's possible to run " UTX Canada Version 2" with Orbx openLC. It does similar the same  as "Orbx Vector". (Vetor is worldwide, UTX Canada is of course Canada only)
UTX and Vector don't have any influence on full fat Orbx regions like NRM, SAK a.s.o. These sceneries already have all necessary mesh, landclasses, objects installed.

You'll find endless fruitless discussions in the web about comparing Vector and UTX (what is better, what is more exact?), this is still the user's own personal feeling.
Many greetings

Thank you Dieter, but about my question 1: Indeed I have only Open LC NA Alaska/Canada installed. But to get North America complete, do I have to buy another scenery? Which one? Is it then not overlapping what I have already? Or how does it work?
The explanation about UTX and Vector was very clear.

Here you find North America complete:
- FTX Global openLC North America
https://www.fullterrain.com/product/ftxgolcna

You might download the user guide from same side (free) so you have an idea what's alll about this software and the total coverage.
You are right your Open LC NA Alaska/Canada is part of the complete NA package.
If you buy the complete NA package you just install it,  your Alaska/Canada software will be overwritten (but it's still the same, no changes)
Of course it really makes sense to have FTX Global Base installed (changes the old Microsoft standard textures).
I think this is meanwhile a "must have".
Many greetings

Thanks again Dieter. So if I interprete this correct, they make me pay twice for something that I have already? That is what I was a bit afraid of. And they do not give any discount to people who bought the Alaska/Canada version earlier? That does not seem very fair...?

Yes, you're interpretation is correct.
FYI:
A rebate was given within 30 days after Orbx openLC North America was published but that's over now.

Good point Marcel. You'd think they would give some sort of a break to those installing Open LC/NA who have already purchased Open LC/Alaska-Canada; especially since the latter was released first. That should be an open-ended discount, not just a 30 day grace period. That certainly discourages me from getting it, too.

Marc,
as far as I know when the FTX Global openLC North America package was released the ability to purchase the old 'Alaska/Canada' partial version was deleted from the ORBX page.
In other words it should not have been possible to purchase the old partial version once the complete FTX Global openLC North America was released and after the rebate period.
ORBX forums announced the rebate for those that bought the early version and the time period it would be in effect.
If you watch ORBX forums you should be aware that starting Nov. 1 all ORBX products will be sold only via ORBX itself.  To be able to obtain any patches updates etc. to your already purchased ORBX stuff you will have to change to "ORBX DIRECT".  If you do not then only your old already purchases from the FSS will be available and no updates or patches available.
In essence ORBX is setting up a buy it from ORBX or be left in the cold system.
