We lost a Blue today

About 3 hours ago a U.S. Navy Blue Angle FA-18 crashed in Smyrna, TN. killing the pilot.
Condolences to his family and squadron mates.

Here is the CNN report.  Two separate crashes, an FA-18 and an F-16.  One ejected safely, the other didn't.  :'(

Had the honor of meeting Capt Kuss at the last Portland/Hillsboro Air Show, what a class act, as are all the Blues, so sad

Cream of the crop for sure. Seen them perform at SF Fleet Week and the Redding air show. They are amazing. Not much time to react if something goes south as obviously something did. It was heart-wrenching to see his team-mates do a fly-by over the smoking wreckage. Heart-felt sympathy to his family and his team, and the US of A.

As I understand he could have punched out but elected to stay with the aircraft and pilot it as to not do damage to a neighborhood, and some other  populated areas. A true testament to his character,
