A new friend of ours, Vegadawg2 (TJ) over on TwitchTV sent me a file that you all may want to take a close look at. It makes the terrain features in the Garmin 500 JUMP out at you ... a beautiful moving picture. Also, it will show you nearby AI aircraft .. .so would be great for group flying. We cannot find the author of this, but we know it was FREEware. So if anyone finds the author, let me know, I want to contact them personally. All you do is rename your fs9gps.cab in your gauges folder to fs9gps.cab.old .... then put in this new fs9gps.cab in its place. That is ALL there is to it (I even got it right the first time!). I'm told you might be able to mess with the xml file and have it spot the ships ... which would be great for RTMM.
I flew through a valley about 10 aircraft widths wide this afternoon and had the GPS zoomed in and EASILY stayed right in the middle of the valley, twisting and turning with the contours. The accuracy is perfect and you won't believe how much more detail there is on your GPS screen. A great addition.
You can download the cab file
HEREThanks to TJ for the tip on this enhancement.
