Buttkicker ?
« on: January 12, 2016, 01:27:02 PM »
Hi,
Does anybody use the Buttkicker Gamer system?

I'm thinking since some time adding this to my Flightsim equipment.
I'm curious about your experiences with it.

Thank you in advance.

I have a Roland electronic drum kit and have a Buttkicker on my throne to "feel" the bass as on an acoustic system.  It works well and would be handy for simming and gaming.

In the picture you can barely see it on the bottom left side of the drum throne.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for sharing your experience.

That is a very nice drum kit.  :)

I'm thinking that it would be better for other games such as first person shooters than for flight sim since it's mostly the low frequencies that it sends to your behind.  So, unless you have hard landings or a good deal of thunder, you might not feel much vibration.

We should start an Internet band!  Seriously, we have many musicians at RTMM!

I had the same thought......

I can play keyboards (proficiency level may be a little weak).  I have a Korg Trinity V3 in storage from my days playing 60s hits with a band..

Rick,

I've had a Buttkicker Gamer for something like 8 years now.  It's awesome in Aces High 2 (www.hitechcreations.com).  Nothing being rattled out of your seat and having dental fillings loosened when the Thunderbolt's 8 .50s open up.  It scares the crap out of the cats when it kicks in.

For FSX, not so much.  I don't think the sounds for most planes are optimized to take advantage of it, although I haven't spent much time tweaking the Buttkicker's knobs to try to get a better crossover frequency or taking the volume knob to 11.  I get a little bit of bumping while on the runway, maybe a light thump when the gear locks up or down, but barely anything from that big ol' radial on the Beaver let alone other engines.

I don't do much with first person shooters any more, but it certainly adds a new dimension to Team Fortress.  You KNOW when a rocket explodes near you.  I highly recommend the Buttkicker Gamer for that.
