Thanks Spud. That was a fix for the flags atop the mast. There were three (or more) flags showing, instead of just one. The fix gets rid of the extra flags.
After applying the fix I went out, trying to spot a masted sailing ship. No luck, but holy mackerel!! What a ride. I was in my HMS Endeavor, sailing out of Roche Harbor. I had a stiff 24 knot wind dialed in, pushing me in a southerly direction. I have never been so thrilled to be going 15 knots in my life! With all the sounds of waves crashing, seagulls crying, and footsteps on the deck, I thought I was going to get seasick!
The bridge.
Norwegian Jewel in Puget Sound.
I look forward to eventually finding sails on my horizon.
Is this Endeavour useable in P3Dv2.4? I checked out the above link but it has 2004 and not FSX on the download. I'm looking to add some pilotable sailing ships and boats to my sim.
I was fortunate to travel on the "Duyfken"replica from Cairns to Port Douglas in FNQ while it was in Australia. It was an amazing experience to be able to look across the bow sprit at the coast and imagine that this is exactly the view those sailors, far from home in strange lands, would have experienced when gazing at the unfamiliar landscape back in 1606. Unlike modern sailing boats that has the sail power balanced against the keel and basically remains in that state as it pushes through the water, the old windjammer seems to rock from side to side constantly with a following wind and sea. If you haven't got something solid in your guts, and a small barrel of rum to help keep it there, that motion is bound to bring on a bout of seasickness!
