I just found this...

Channel 4 in the UK has just shown a three part series about flying to some of the remotest airstrips in the world. Fronted by Arthur Williams, a wheelchair-bound former British Royal Marine, it's been a great watch. I didn't know it was on and so have just watched all three episodes on Channel 4's catch up service, 4OD. Hopefully this link will work for viewers outside the UK too:

Episode 1 - Nepal (featuring micro lighting in the Himalayas and a Twin Otter to Lukla)
Episode 2 - Australia (featuring a helicopter cattle roundup and a Beaver to a private island)
Episode 3 - Canada (featuring the Goose and gold prospecting by C-185 floatplane)

Aah, that is annoying. I'm not sure registration is required for 4OD through a browser, though it is for the iPad app. Sorry about that guys, It didn't occur to me there might be TV territorial licensing shenanigans involved. Good ol' UK.

I'll have a hunt about and see if I can find alternative links to the episodes. Once again, apologies.

Edit: There may be a way for folks outside the UK to watch the series, if you don't mind a free registration. After having streaming TV explained to me (suddenly I feel very, very old), Googling, "Stream tv+Flying To The Ends Of The Earth," returned several links for all three episodes. I also now understand how certain family members are a series ahead of me on our favourite US dramas. *fetches pipe and slippers*

I found the working link for me, by googling "Stream tv+Flying To The Ends Of The Earth" and trying all the choices that came up until I found one that worked. Maybe you should search for a working link, from your location Patrick, to find one that works for you.

Oh, thank goodness for that. I'm glad the links are working, at least for most of you; sorry Patrick. I think I enjoyed the locations in episode three the most (I wonder why?

), though those cows on the runway in episode one had me watching through my fingers. The looks on Arthur's face at some of the shorter strips did give me a chuckle. BTW, he's known over here in the UK for being on the presenting team for the last Paralympics, I had no idea he'd got his pilot's licence.

If you enjoyed that series, there's another one from last year called "Worst Place To Be A Pilot" that follows the pilots of Susi Air in Papua. Viewing links can probably be found in the same way for that one too, though I did hear a rumour it'd been picked up by a US TV station, so maybe it'll prove to be that bit more accessible.

Well, it worked yesterday. Today I'm getting ERROR: Video Being Transferred or Video Not Found. I got my money's worth yesterday. There's a life lesson in there somewhere...just not sure what it is.
