Hi guys,

For Tongass Fjords install, I used the following method:

1. Copy Terrain.cfg (make a backup) file from your c:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D folder to your main Preapr3dv2.5 folder
2. Create FSX.exe and place in main Preapr3dv2.5 folder (copy the p3d.exe and rename it)
3. Enable E*T tool
4. Install Tongass Fjords scenery, pointing to Preapr3dv2.5 folder
5. Disable E*T tool
6. Move terrain.cfg from Preapr3dv2.5 folder to c:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D folder

I hope this helps

Francisco,

Thanks for those steps.  For those that have the Flight Sim Estonia Migration Tool, that still works with P3DV2.5.  The key to remember is that whenever you install scenery (mostly area scenery versus individual airport scenery) without installers designed specifically for P3DV2.5, they still look for a terrain.cfg in the primary P3D folder to update.  LM moved that terrain.cfg to the Program Data area outside of the previous main P3D folder location.

Just let the installers update the terrain.cfg file in the main folder and then just copy it to the Program Data location.  It does not hurt anything to leave the terrain.cfg in the primary folder.  That way the next time you add something it will have the terrain data appended to it and then all you have to do is copy the terrain.cfg file over again.  Simple process.

Several of the folks I know with Tongass have had no issues installing this way.

Thank you Steve for that information about leaving the Terrain.cfg in the main folder. I wasn't sure if it was safe to just leave it there.

Finally installing P3Dv2.5

Success!   8)  So far, so good.  I did have trees in the water after initial upgrade to 2.5, but then I remembered this thread.  I had a copy of terrain.cfg from before, so I deactivated the new ones, and pasted the saved one in both spots.
Eureka!  The trees are gone.  My boat is floating again.

Before starting the v2.5 installer, I deactivated the 2.4 P3D.exe file by adding a ".off", then ran the 2.5 installer right over my current 2.4 folder.  All scenery is intact, and a new library installed.
I've also installed the version 2.5 SDK package as well.  Now I need a new Instant Scenery III dll update.   8)

Hi Jeff from Venice Florida...on vacation but simply can not stay away from the forums.

Are you saying no need to uninstall v2.4 simply disable the P3D.exe then run the 2.5 installer and everything worked with all sceney's and aircraft addon's with using the terrain cfg tweak?

If so, that is epic to know!

Since some files were relocated to other areas in ver 2.5 you may have some files in areas that they don't belong.  I am not sure about the registry.  I just renamed the existing P3D folder and made a new folder with the original name.  I did an uninstall on P3Dv2 to clean the registry.  I then installed v2.5,  ran it to create the config files then copied things over from the old to the new.  The new version doesn't have an Addon Scenery or a Modules folder so I just copied those intact.  There are numerous ways that this can be done.  Think about it, Plan it, Do it!

Yeah, me too. Tried putting it in, then copying simobjects, etc over to it ... it crashed. Re-installing, guess I'll add things the hard way?

Yes I am going with a fresh vanilla installation of P3D 2.5. Then I'll just copy over some scenery files from my previous installation that I saved my Addon Scenery from.

It's a tedious and time consuming process but I'm not confident in all the different ways people are suggesting of doing a swap from 2.4-2.5, reinstall, overwrite, what have you. I'm taking Lockheeds recommended installation instructions for a new install as the best way for me to do a fresh install of P3D 2.5.

Step one is done. Prepar3D v2.5 is up and running. Now to take the next steps and install a fresh new scenery library with all the ORBX regions, airports, OPUS, RTMM, etc.

I'm looking forward to it.

Don't forget there is a hotfix for 2.5  The ASN fix is at: http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/sh...FSX-SE-and-P3D

Don't forget that you need a new version of FSUIPC to work with 2.5.  You can get that at Pete Dawson's site.  There is also a hotfix for 2.5 which breaks ASN.  Go to their site and get the latest beta.
