McCoy Wake Effect
« on: January 15, 2015, 10:10:41 PM »
We've always had a problem with the wakes in P3D ... they just are not realistic.  I've found a program that really gives a nice wake.  McCoy Water Effects, you can find it here.

A "sister" to this program is the Goose Realism Fix, which changes the contact points. You can find that HERE.

Attached, you can see the "new" wakes I can now achieve. The Piper float plane works without the contact point fix, just applying the McCoy makes it work.

Without the contact point fix, the Goose didn't work well at all, it needs to be lower in the water, then it works.

I tried it on the Aerosoft Beaver (Standard Wheels Model where all the action is) ... and I get nothing. But I have not "lowered" the aircraft by changing contact points. Perhaps someone here could give us some better contact points for it.

This little program set really makes things start working for wakes.

Wow, that's the prettiest wake I've ever seen.  I'm gonna put it on every thing!  Here's my Malibu turning circles.  The wake segments are smooth.   8)

Here's my Beaver.  The McCoy wakes coming off the pontoons look good to me.  (I get some graphic anomalies with the beaver's wake for some reason.  Lines going crazy for a second, occasionally.  Not bad.)

Thanks for the hint. I'll give it a try. There's also a ground landing effect available.

Trying this wake effect with the C-180 G Hydra freeware and it looks not so bad but still not perfect yet.

PS: I've to confess that I'm not so much with the floating planes. My favorites are the helis and the missing downwash effect in P3D vv2.x is really a pain for me.

I'm wondering what the differences are in the wake pics we are seeing. Some "misty", some more harsh "like mine" ... contact points?

Anyway, Got it Working!
